What are you playing?
Re: What are you playing?
Went down the street to the place where 4 of my friends stay. They have a SNES over there, and I rocked some Krusty's Fun House tonight. Interesting game, sort of like an easier Lemmings. We only got to like the second set of levels though, so maybe it gets tougher—idk?

Played Vanquish for the first time today, pretty "meh" experience. I was already bored with it halfway through the first boss fight

Tomb Raider on PS3 (Squenix release)
If i hadn't played a Tomb Raider before, I suppose I would maybe like it, but, having played just about every TR title, I'm disappointed. Little tomb raiding to be had and too much killing of anything that walks. I'm never challenged in how I use my resources since there is always a ammo to be found and never in danger or finding myself out of ammo in an intense fight. I really don't get the experience system either. Why am I rewarded for doing mundane things or progressing past a certain event that I would have to anyway, like surviving a jump from a bridge when clearly that is the only path to take for the story to progress? I'm playing on normal difficulty and probably won't come back for a 2nd playthough on Hard. I wish the game was more colorful instead of drab. Maybe that's what the devs were going for to add to the mood/atmosphere, but, not liking the palette too much either.

My piano.
...and Reggie Jackson Baseball on the Master System.
I have the RBI series, the Bases Loaded series, Baseball Stars, Great Baseball, etc., but for me Jackson is the best 8-bit baseball game to have ever been made.

I grabbed Devil May Cry 4 on PC during Steam's Capcom anniversary sale, and am mighty surprised how well it runs on my not so great AMD E450 laptop. Even though i have to run it in 800x450, it looks pretty good on the 11.6" screen, and frame rates are usually around 60, and don't go below 30. If i turn off shadows, it stays around 80-90fps, but i like to have them on for the atmosphere.

Re: What are you playing?
Getting a bit annoyed with Rain. After playing Mark of the Ninja it's hard to go back to old style stealth based gameplay. I'm still early in the game, but Rain seems like one of those dated stealth games where you have to figure out exactly how a designer wants you to traverse an area without getting spotted, or it's instant fail state
There's no middle ground for me with stealth games. I either love them (Mark of the Ninja) or hate them, and it feels like Rain may end up falling into the latter category.

Currently Doom 3 BFG edition (seems fitting for the month), the port is a little on the lazy side (the options menu are a joke, the game pauses on the auto-saves, they could try and change the model a bit and add a flashlight on his shoulder, well maybe this is nip picks from me) but still is good port so far and includes 2 classic doom games (I and II).
Bayonetta (PS3) so after the massive update (135 megs is lot for me) and god this game was worth the wait and the trouble, GoW 3 has a very good combat but this just blows it away... after this in definetly goin to play the devil may cry games. They are a must now.

Re: What are you playing?

For XBox 360
This game is sooooo much freaking fun! I can't stop playing it. And it's one of those games that you're thinking about it even when you're not playing it.
But it's also tough as nails. You have regenerating health, but it depletes REAL fast. And when you die, back to the beginning of that area for you, and you have to re-earn any challenges you might have completed before dying in that area. Even though it's tough, it's also so much fun that I keep coming back for more punishment. And it makes beating those challenges so satisfying when you do.
My one complaint is that the game replaces invisible walls with irradiated areas that hurt and kill you. The problem is that sometimes it kills you so fast you have no time to react. Like you'll be swinging on your bionic arm, you swing to high, and before you can swing back down out of the radiation, you're already dead sometimes. It's not so bad or so often it's game-breaking though, just a complaint. I'd rather have invisible walls, personally, they don't kill your character.
BTW, it's hilarious when the enemies talk trash to you. They sound like real people. "Why do you have to be a such a bich, Spencer?!" and "SPENCER! I see you, you treacherous f*ck!"
Best part of this game, though, is that it's this damn good, and I only paid $5 for it, complete.

Clock Tower 3.
I haven't gotten terribly far, I just finished the first boss battle with Sledgehammer. Which was kinda "meh". Nothing about this game really stands out as amazing but it's somewhat interesting enough to keep me going for now. We'll see how it goes.
