I think I'll differentiate Mummies from zombies for now. I also think that the game should feature zombies as the main enemy or draw...so Doom and Dracula might be out. Basically "do you consider this first and foremost a zombie-themed game?" would be a good question to ask.

If by prominent role you mean that they are the main enemy and main threath in the game then you can take off:

Warcraft
Half life
Ghost and goblins
Xcom Enemy Unknown (it has zombies on it?!)
Darkwatch

This night i can go and check out the rest of the names i'm not familiar yet.

Also there's some mods for some GTA games were they add a new story and make the whole city a zombie caos.

I am going to ignore unofficial mods for now and only focus on games with official DLC/expansions that include zombies.

And with HL i didn't think that the head crabs weren't a mayor threat... but i was thinking on half life 1, half life 2 on the other hand had this magnificent part:

I was thinking about the games were zombies ARE the only and biggest enemy so that's why i proposed to take off Xcom and ghost and goblins (btw XCOM seems more interesting each i read something about it). If you're gonna include games were there's at least a section were zombies are really a threat and not just another baddy on a large list of enemies the list will be really large.

As a personal preference i name a game a "zombie game" when the zombies are the main enemy (like in left 4 dead, resident evil).

It's not the main purpose, but zombies form a major plot point in the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, where you have to enter a facility that is effectively melting peoples brains and turning them into mindless automatons.

And again, not the main purpose, but the zombie nurses did become a mainstay of the Silent Hill series and have appeared in nearly every game.

I didn't look at Giant Bomb, but I mentioned in the OP that I perused the MobyGames site and Wikipedia and combined their lists. None of these lists is comprehensive and some games inclusion is questionable, thus my appeal to y'all.

There's an alpha list in the thread too, and I am not interested in what console/system/platform for now. Spoilers are preferable to giant threads of info (try it sometime!). It's 2013: enable Java.
