This. I am just guessing here, but I am willing to bet that you need permits for this kind of thing. You can call the HOA or the city to check if he has them. My parents had to get a permit for a gravel driveway in BFE unincorporated home parish and it was inspected as construction went on as well. The guidelines for it were strict, but it's up to code at least.

Plus if you call them and he doesn't have the permits, you don't have to deal with him and he won't know which neighbor called. Saves you the headache of confrontation.
I'm here for your body.

Me? Afraid of confrontation?

Things are looking much better now that they've laid down a plot. My neighbor will make sure that things are done correct. What they plowed down and what they plotted are around six inches of difference, which is satisfactory by me.

But if I need to, which I doubt, I can contact the HOA and the head of our neighborhood guild. I'm not kidding, we have a guild. People in my neighborhood are crazy protective about new homes, new additions...basically any changes. It's an established neighborhood and people do not want to see any changes. People will get fined if their grass gets over "yay high", and I'm not kidding.

Ticked: Rule one of writing a premise for a joke is ALWAYS keep a pen and notepad near. Hopefully it will come back to me, but while in the car I thought of something that made me laugh and for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

I wish my brain had an external hard drive.

That is rule one for writing period. I keep a recording device with me when driving long trips for that purpose. Heck one of the scripts I am about to sell came out of that.

And I kinda want to see pissed off Luke.

I am renting a room in a beautiful nice suburban home. Cheaper than an apartment where I would worry about getting mugged and a billion times nicer (I also get a garage space). The land lord is super nice and has become a great friend of mine and there was another 19 year old living here too that just moved out. This 48 year old man decided to rent out his home for a few months to a couple who were displaced by the fire recently and so is living here a few months. It's really not bizarre at all. Just roommates, I don't care if he was 48 or 18 frankly.

Different strokes.

The last thing I'd want to do in my first year of college is live with a 48 year old religious fanatic. That or major in biology.

If I were going to a proper university I would agree and I would be in a dorm simply for social reasons. This CC isn't super social though.

Gotcha.

You'll always get mixed reviews on the college experience of dorm life. Some Universities make living in a dorm mandatory, which I think has both its pros and cons.

It depends on the state though. Pretty much the only place you don't have to live in a dorm in Texas is A&M, simply because they have more people than dorms.

And a large majority of colleges expect freshman and sophomores to stay in dorms.

Seriously? Now that's bizarre, never heard of that. Maybe you mean if you are younger/a freshman or something? I'm going to transfer to the state university next year and living in a dorm would simply be out of the question for me, I have a ton of shit, dogs, girlfriend, etc. And there are a lot of people that go to college that have families and stuff and certainly aren't going to be able to move into a dorm. I dunno, that just makes no sense to me.

Most of the unis I looked at were mandatory dorms/approved housing for at least the first year if you weren't a commuter. They probably relax it for people who aren't just out of high school.
