If the pay's comparable to what you make now, that might be a good idea for you. State government work (at least in my state) isn't glamorous but it's a steady, reliable paycheck with a nice white-collar environment. And if you stay long enough there's retirement programs.Luke wrote:Smile: Got a call out of nowhere from the NC government (thought you guys were taking the day off) offering me a job as an HR manager (I've hired people but that's the totality of my HR experience) for my county.
Really weird.

Not to sound twatty, but salary is of zero concern. I don't own a private jet, nor have I ever been on a private jet, but I'm fairly fiscally sound. If I take a job it will be to make money while doing something I enjoy. I'm okay if that makes me sound pompous.
Long story short, I would be the director of HR for job seekers with disabilities in one county. It would be possible to be the director of state within years, but that would involve politics, which I avoid.
I'll definitely be talking turkey with the state, but a figurehead I will not be.

I can see you and I differ in our thinking. I make more money than I find a use for, but if I was given the opportunity to make more I'd still take it.Luke wrote:Not to sound twatty, but salary is of zero concern. I don't care if it sounds jerky one bit, but companies need me more than I need them.

Depends. Are we going ahead with the Beefcakes of Racketboy calendar idea?Luke wrote:Hopefully you will reflect this in the charity auctionBoringSupreez wrote: I make more money than I find a use for...
It's actually not that I make a ton of money or anything, it's that I don't have much to spend it on.

Frown: my memory doesn't seem to be as good as it used to. I'm finding videos in my Youtube "Likes" list that I apparently added about two months ago that I don't remember adding... and I know it's not a glitch or anything because when I watched the videos I did in fact enjoy them. That's on top of increasing day-to-day absent mindedness.

Smile: Passed my Network+ exam today. Thought I'd failed it for sure and then realized I'd passed by a decent margin. Hooray for not having to spend another $240 to re-take!
Frown: Nothing. Today was a Good Day.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Aggressive theists and militant atheists are only tolerable when they are locked in a room with no one to bother but each other.
