Subbed through and through. Casting for dubs is just so hit or miss. Plus subs especially the fan subs tend to have better translations plus on occasion cultural side notes to explain history/culture that the average foreigner just wouldn't understand :P.

In general I tend to go with whatever the original language was, with subtitles. Anime, foreign films, whatever. The translation might take some liberties either way, but I've usually seen the dubs take more, for one reason or another (occasionally interesting experiment: turn on the subtitles with the dub).

There are occasionally genres or titles that I prefer the dub for. Often works better for comedies for example, since reading a joke before/after the corresponding on-screen actions can ruin it.

Still, it's just a preference for me. I'm not going to turn my nose up at a perfectly good, legal source of anime (like Netflix) due to dubs. I'll flip something over to the dub if I'm watching it with someone who'd prefer that.

Almost always. There have been a few exceptions, mostly the ones that were raking it in before the bubble burst. Cowboy Bebop and Trigun come to mind.

The Cowboy Bebop dub is exceptionally good, but the original cast is still 100x better. Despite how good he is, Steve Blum still has nothing on Yamadera as Spike. Hayashibara is the only Faye. And Wakamoto as Vicious, well, that speaks for itself.

I can honestly say I can't think of a single instance where a dub was better (simply being good, does not mean better), unless we're talking about so bad it's good being part of the entertainment value.

OKAY. I have some money. So I'm about to pull the trigger on Kino's Journey and CowBoy BeBop. Anything else I should add to my order?

Unlike games I can follow multiple shows pretty easily which is nice.

Depends on your tastes. I'd highly recommend Katanagatari, Bakemonogatari, and Madoka if you haven't seen them. As well as Millennium Actress, The Garden of Words, and Gunbuster.

I think that's enough for now. A few of those are rather expensive though..

Alternatively, go pay for a year of Crunchyroll, and you can watch some of them there with no ads/etc.

Samurai Champloo and Black Lagoon Blu-ray sets aren't pricey if you like Bebop. Mushi-Shi DVD set is cheap. Welcome to the NHK is also worth a look and is cheap.

I recently bought the Blu-ray/DVD set for Serial Experiments Lain, so I've got the old Pioneer Signature Series DVDs laying about if you'd like 'em.
