Not really, considering most people I know don't care for the negative press and are getting an XBox One because "it will be better" because "the 360 is better than the PS3". If anything, I'm sick of 360 fans (which is pretty much everyone here in the UK) telling me how inferior the PS3 isZenErik wrote:Anyone else tired of people shitting on the Xbox One for no reason? I had a friend last night say she 'felt sorry for anyone buying an Xbox One'. WHY? What makes you feel that way? Good luck to her backing up her statement considering she generally doesn't even play games. About 95% of her gaming experience is from watching her boyfriend play.
I just don't get it.

Yes. My nephew informed me a couple weeks ago that he was getting a PS4 because Microsoft didn't allow you to sell games and the PS4 had a bunch more features. I told him he was wrong about the used game deal and asked him to describe these features, which he couldn't.ZenErik wrote:Anyone else tired of people shitting on the Xbox One for no reason? Here's the thing. MS DID try that, and you can be certain if they ever believe they can get away with it, they will try again.Phades wrote: Yes. Just for that reason I would buy an Xbone. Not that I trust Sony more than MS, but honestly MS was caught red handed trying to do this.

Re: Xbox One
I thought it was a great feature. Being able to sell digital licenses sounds ideal to me. Though I do agree that maybe it shouldn't affect physical copies.
Most of the people I know that hate the Xbox One for no good reason also hate the 360 for no good reason. But they use Windows because they apparently hate Apple too. Even though more than a few of them use iPhones and iPads. Funny world we live in.

Selling digital licenses would've been awesome. All Microsoft did was make a steam box but failed to present it as such. They essentially walked out on-stage and said "no more used games!" and walked off without explaining a dang thing.
They could have launched the console market into a steam-esque ecosystem but they failed... And failed HARD.

It was the always check online crap that did me in. I do not mind an initial registration but damn shutting me off after an hour is my system does not go online?Opa Opa wrote:Selling digital licenses would've been awesome. Oh there are definitely policies that needed refining. I didn't love everything about their new ideas, but I wish at least SOME of it had stuck. The ability to sell digital licenses was one idea that should have stayed. Such a simple idea, but in my opinion it would have been a HUGE step in the right direction for digital downloads. Could have eventually pushed Sony and Nintendo to do the same w/ the digital licenses too. That would have been GLORIOUS.
But because Microsoft backed down so easily and Sony played things safe that chance for progress was lost. At least for now.

I believe it was one hour if you were using a friend's machine, 24 hours on your home machine. It most likely was a requirement of being able to sell digital licenses and in that respect I think it makes some sense. Otherwise, I could activate a game and then immediately run to the closest game store to sell it. Then I just unplug my system for a few weeks while I play through it.wclem wrote:It was the always check online crap that did me in. I think their initial model sounded fantastic. I could sell my digital games as well as lend my digital library to friends and family members. Their method was far less restrictive than the model that Steam uses. They just did a terrible job of selling it.

The topic of our lunch conversations after the initial announcement was how we need to fire all of our marketing guys and just let one of the devs who's also a gamer explain the features.Opa Opa wrote:Selling digital licenses would've been awesome. Re: Xbox One
So you guys are actually advocating for the loss of physical media? If so, I don't see what you're complaining about. All of these games are going to be available digitally as well, if not immediately, then eventually. I'm personally very pleased that physical copies of games are not going to be extinct for at least one more generation.
