TFTD if we're going that route. The first one isn't too bad; you can toss a lot of soldiers at your problems where you couldn't in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but the alien counts are similar. Plus you get early access to the tank for the beginning when you have shit soldiers and shit weapons. And then you get the blaster bomb and you just destroy everything in your path.Menegrothx wrote:FTFYMrPopo wrote: I was going to say "time to sack up and play UFO: Enemy Unknown" but I figured that would just be mean.

I've only done the intro mission so far. When you launch the game you get a little dialog to pick if you want to play EU or EW. Your Second Wave unlocks from EU do not carry over to EW.noiseredux wrote:Enemy Within is out today.

that's good news! I had been worried it would just override the whole EU campaign. I like the ability to play vanilla EU if I want to.MrPopo wrote:When you launch the game you get a little dialog to pick if you want to play EU or EW.
Well, I'll be picking it up as soon as I can afford to do so.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (on 360/PS3)
This is hilarious:
Code: Select all
Names are important. Giving a name to a tiny, mindless unit in games such as FTL or XCOM: Enemy Unknown—and XCOM: Enemy Within, out today—gives them the importance necessary for permadeath to matter. I don't care if some anonymous squaddie bites it in an alien base mission, but I care a lot more about the well-being of Lt. Tyler "Maverick" Wilde.
Once you've used all of your friends' names, though, how to you find the right identity for your team? Do you use pet names, or celebrities, or characters from fantasy novels that clearly don't fit in a sci-fi setting? You probably freeze up, unable to remember the names of loved ones or childhood heroes. We know this condition all too well. This is Naming Paralysis, and while your insurance may not cover the treatment necessary, we can help.
Last year, we created The PC Gamer Character Name Repository, a shared Google Doc that we encouraged you to throw XCOM and FTL-friendly names into. Since then, you've added more than 300 names to the list, across different categories. As XCOM: Enemy Within launches today, we're putting the Name Repository back into your hands, so that together, we can all fight Naming Paralysis.- noiseredux

I'm so weak.
I've sunk a couple hours into Enemy Within now. I love it. There's some serious changes pretty much immediately that makes it feel like a very different game.
