One game to keep an eye open that for is Xenonauts
http://www.xenonauts.com/
It's going to be a true "spiritual sequel" to the original Enemy Unknown, a lot more so than the streamlined modern XCOM
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

yeah man it sucks. Once I get past this mission, I can up the resolution again (tested) but I gotta beat it without losing all my best dudes.

You're probably right. Lt. Rainye Stark wouldn't have let this happen. I should have guarded him more closely.

OK, got thru that mission with only losing one guy! Sorry JayRed :(, but that's much better than losing five.

OpaOpa now has Psi skills as well.

I've been playing the beta build, and it actually seems like they made things more complicated than the original, and not necessarily for the better. They also could use a pass by a dedicated UI designer; some of their menus and workflows are really obtuse. It's really easy to fall into the trap of complicated UI when you're working on a project, since you're completely used to how it works.

The game is very explicit as to when you're about to do the last mission. When I did it I managed to save a rocket and a grenade or two and just saturation bombed the room with the final enemies.

I'm at the part where
there's 3 of those floating aliens with mind-control.
That's the last "boss" yeah?

I've got all 6 troops left, but no health-packs, and I dn't think any grenades left. I think I have one rocket launcher.

They're so quick to mind-control though.

Does Psi-onics work on them? The one time I tried, it failed.

Very hard to pull off. There's a reason you get an achievement for it named after the most powerful telepath in the Marvel Universe.

I was going to say "time to sack up and play Ironman Classic" but I figured that would just be mean.
