Pokémon was beastly.
MGS4 was solid.
MGR:R was vengeful.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

January-June (the first 50)
Commander Keen Episode 1: Marooned on Mars - PC
DLC Quest - PC
Live Freemium or Die - PC
Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt - PC
Marvel vs Capcom 3 - PS3
Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - PC
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - PC
Street Fighter IV - iOS
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R - Vita
The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim - 360/PC
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages - GBC
Killzone: Mercenary - Vita
Galaga Legions DX - PS3 *new*
TOTAL: 64
Games Beaten: 2012 2011 2010
I mentioned to John while recording the show last night that I had hit a lull in game playing. I finished 50 in 6 months and only 14 in the 3 1/2 months since
Need to pick up the pace, I suppose.
Anyway, this was recently free on PS+ and I hadn't ever played it. I cleared everything on my first try this morning (Championship mode and all the Areas) without any continues...but the game would severely benefit from something closer to an "arcade mode". Still, pretty and fun.

Knocked out two great ones today.
Silent Hill... bout time. I couldn't get into it when I downloaded it off the PSN store last year or so, but finally sat down and gave it more time and I blasted through it. Really impressed with how well everything has held up, controls aside (though it was really nice you can customize everything). The sound design was great and even the lighting with the flashlight looked really good in dark parts. Freaky and awesome stuff.
I got up to the first Pyramid Head encounter in SH2 years ago and quit there. I completely thought you had to defeat him that encounter and just kept dying... later I found out you just have to run from him where I was, I believe. Haha, go figure. This time I'm a lot more interested though so I think I'll really enjoy checking it out again and will push through.
Just somehow never got around to this series until now. Better late than never!
God Hand!

Harder than the DMC's I'd say, but it was still really forgiving for the most part with infinite continues and being able to start checkpoints over with full health. What cracks me up though is that this was just normal, haha. Might have to see what the other difficulties are like.
This really reminded me of Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising, to an extent. Just a little more over the top with the blatant humor, which was amazing. The game is just an explosion of fun and charm. The camera and feel takes a little getting used to and I wasn't feeling it in the first stage or so, but then bam almost 12 hours later... loved the heck out of it. Capcom dropped the ball so hard here or something, Gene should have been a huge icon himself. And I can't believe there's so many great ideas here that no developer really tried to do again... the in-game dynamic difficulty curving system, was just the coolest thing ever. And the depth of the combo/combat is hilariously crazy. Customizing every single button input... nuts.

The lighting system is seriously impressive given the hardware, and the way they creatively worked around the draw distance limitations and used it to their advantage with the whole fog thing...Xeogred wrote: Silent Hill... bout time. It's a really technically impressive game. Been a while since I had a copy of the original myself, I need to pick it up again. I've beaten it a few times.

Re: Games Beaten 2013
1. Adventure (Atari 2600) - Beaten [All 3 difficulties]
2. Cave Story (GCW Zero port) - Almost Beaten (Gave up on the best final boss because the last level is boring)
3. FTL: Faster than Light (PC) - Beaten [Both difficulties]
4. Fez (PC) - Beaten [Normal Ending]
5. Civilization BNW One City Challenge Deity - Beaten thanks to the power of cheese
I'm liked both and I'm reviewing them soon. Feels weird to actually beat a game! I don't think I've beaten one in ages.
Currently trying to beat:
Gradius II [1cc]
Games I almost beat and should revisit soon:
DoDonPachi [1cc]
Seven Kingdoms [I'm missing two or three scenarios]
The House of the Dead (PC) [1cc]
Transarctica
Games I want to beat sooner or later:
Doom 2
Total Annihilation

Re: Games Beaten 2013
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance for XBox 360

I played the original XBox version when it first came out. But it's been so long, and I've had the XBox 360 version just sitting in my collection for a while after a friend gave it to me when he was moving.
So I decided to pop it in and play through it.
It gave me a huge glitch. Apparantly it's known to erase unlocked data if your XBox Live becomes disconnected and reconnects again. That's what happened to me. I lost some unlocked costumes as well as the Dr. Strange as a playable character. Which also mean wasted experience points respent on stuff I already spent it on.
Other than that annoyance, though, it was a blast to play through. And I swear there was some added content vs. the original XBox version that I didn't remember playing through. But it's also been so long, that I could've just forgotten. It has a very Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance feel to the gameplay, which I like a lot. Lots of unlockables. And it gives a lot of fan-service to the comic readers.
I tried to get into Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. I have the PS2 version. And I just couldn't. I don't know if having the PS2 is what the problem is, or if all the releases feel as cheap and lazy as the PS2 version does. It just doesn't have the same amount of effort put into it as the first one did. Poor voice-acting. Almost non-existant music. Bad movie-scenes. And they ruined the power-ups and item upgrades. I have no desire to finish it.

I started Enemy Unknown 7 times. And between the 360 port and the PC version I put 105 hours into it. That ranks it - as far as I can monitor - as my most played game of all time. But I can't go back and count hours on things like NBA Jam, Street Fighter II or Link to the Past. So let's just say it's fair to call it my most played game of the last decade. And having said that, I'd rank easily within my Top 10 of this generation, and pretty much in rival with Street Fighter IV and Deathsmiles as my favorite game of this entire generation. Yup. I'm totally serious. This game is amazing.
The truth is, I'm the type that considers games that hit the 20 hour mark as "too long." The fact that I spent countless campaigns at 20 hrs and then restarted is a testament to just how amazing this game is. And what's really sick is that even after finally completing it, I'm looking forward to the expansion coming next month.
Bravo.
