Seriously, "live action adaptation of evangelion"? You talk about tropes and cliches, well your "argument" basically reads like a list of stock phrases people throw around when criticizing Pacific Rim. Believe it or not, several giant robot anime series exist outside of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and all of these similarities people love to point out between the two works are not exclusive to NGE at all and have been done to death far before it was ever conceived.
I don't care to even compare the two, even though there are a few points of similarity. Don't get all upset, I really don't give a damn about PR, it's nothing that's not been done better before.
Watched Fantasia 2000 today with my son. It was his first time with it (he didn't make it through the original a year or so ago) and he was transfixed.
Watched the Final Countdown last night. Sadly the Final Countdown was not in the movie .
Basically this movie was all bark and no bite. It kept building up to what should have been an awesome climax, but backed out at the last minute.
