Yeah, by next week we can probably stop suggesting games, and start campaigning for which ones get picked.

PSO was me, SpaceBooger, Violent, BoneSnapDeez so 4 votes so far.
Ah, did you mean this comment?
If so I took that as a general statement in support ofthe genre, but I'm happy to count it in PSO's favour if Bone agrees that thats what he meant.bone wrote:I wouldn't be opposed to derping around with an MMO for a month, but I don't care for WoW. I could kill some time with a Phantasy Star or Final Fantasy MMO though.

haha yeah, I took "I could kill some time with..." as meaning "yeah sure sounds good."

Yeah I'm down!
Re: Together Retro 2014 Nominations & Discussion Thread
Wow. Lots of activity. I was gonna make another long post, but here's the short of it.
- Good to see DE still in the running. Keep it up!!!!!
- I would cut off nominations soon and get to voting. We have too many games and it's just going to make it more difficult.
- I don't see an issue with RPG or Shmup being in the main calendar. SOTM and TR collaborated with Dodonpachi in December 2012 and all went well. Maybe the respective offshoots could do the same if they are put on.
- I see there is interest for Capcom beat em ups. I would still suggest maybe grouping my 2 and AJ's 2 and have a medieval/fantasy month out of it.
- I would like to +1 Phantasmagoria and +1 Space Harrier. I think the first would be a great horror game, and it looked amazing when it was released, it's a Sierra classic by one of the Kings Quest creators. SH has so many ways to play, and of course you can always play on Shenmue

the way it's always been done is that nominations get "cut off" when people stop nominating them. It's more about letting the calendar sort of create itself organically.ExedExes wrote: - I would cut off nominations soon and get to voting. I would be happy to see a collaboration between TR and the other groups, the more the merrier.
If you guys want to do Phantasmagoria, make it part of the horror genre. It's a bad example of adventure gaming. It's an interactive b-movie.
I'll note that we haven't done a Sierra adventure game, AGI or SCI yet. We have done 2 Lucas Arts adventure games (Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion), so I'd suggest we do something other than Loom. BaSS is a good game, but IMO less historically relevant than a Sierra title. TLJ has been on my list for a long time, so I'd be in for that if it got chosen. But Sierra needs some attention around here. GK is one of the best, so that gets my +1 for adventure.

it seems to me that the other groups were formed because there were folks who weren't interested in TR and just wanted to play either shmups or RPG's all year long.Hatta wrote:I would be happy to see a collaboration between TR and the other groups, the more the merrier.

I think you should take every single game mentioned, lump them into groups of (?) for a total of 12 groups (one per month) and let people vote either in thread or in 12 separate polls.
OR
You (noise) should start a new thread, give people a week to list games, they can offer up a set number that you determine (3...5...12), and those are the games we vote on once they are lumped into groups. In that post they can do their lobbying, but then leave it be until the actual voting begins.

Sure, but those of us who do TR would like to play RPGs and shmups too. During those months, if we could coordinate, we'd get more players and more conversation.
