Well, I assumed AJ was tallying endorsements and, if there are games that have clear "front runner" status within a genre, they would go on the calendar. If there were games that are contested, we'd vote.noiseredux wrote:Yeah agreed totally. I'm just looking for direction here. Anyway, guys, how do we get from our big-ass list of games down to lean 12 month calendar that we can all feel pretty good about?

I think the front runners are Deus Ex and PSO.

I'm voting against Deus Ex, not interested in it at all.
More so than the games, how do we decide what genres will be represented this year?
I also think the RPG and Shoot em up clubs should be ignored. That's their thing, I don't even post or lurk in the shoot em up section.

the way I figure it is if an FPS game gets the most votes, then FPS is one of the genres picked. That sort of thing. Let the games' popularity dictate the genres picked.Violent By Design wrote: More so than the games, how do we decide what genres will be represented this year?

is that only from your spreadsheet then? PSO definitely had a lot more backing than 1 or 2.

again, more time is needed...
maybe take nominations for another week, ask for endorsements for one week past that, then see where we are in terms of consensus/voting needs.

My spreadsheet as of it being updated on page 13.
In checking back to be sure, I have realised that Violent posted in favour of PSO in the time it took me to do the update, so I didn't count that. As far as I can tell though, his is the only one I've missed - putting it at 3 votes, the same as FFXI. Not exactly an obvious leader in popularity.
For what it's worth, Trails in the Sky had 4 votes, but I'm under the impression that's off the agenda now due to it not actually being a retro game.
Either way, this is just a look at whats been popular so far. I'm in no way intending for this to be used in decision making already.
