8) Been teaching myself Moonlight Sonata on bass because I'm cultured like that.

:( Been kinda bummed today. I don't know why. Maybe it's the weather ~ it is a bit gloomy.

:( The family issues and divorces seem sad to me. Divorces and family infighting aren't all that common in my family at all, except for the more distant relatives on my Dad's side, who disowned my Dad's cousin because his ex-wife was Hispanic, and his daughter got pregnant at a young age.

:) I'm home alone for a pretty good while, with no responsibilities. Some me time.

 I have a disturbing large amount of me time lately.

Smile: Learning Linux

Frown: See above. Also see definition for the word "persnickety"

Smile: Spelled persnickety right.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

:D Got paid today!

:( It was only about $56 bucks, minus the $1.51 hole I had in my account.

:) Got some new headphones (my old ones had the same problem I keep encountering, where at some point the sound stops coming in on the right side, though sometimes it's the left), which were only $9.28, but they were marked down from about $31!

:) Also rented the new Chucky movie, which hopefully will be much better than Seed of Chucky.

:) Shaved my head today. My brother's ex's grandma loaned me a pair after yesterday when I mentioned that my hair usually doesn't get that long unless I go too long without cutting it.

:D Oh, yeah. I forgot! Yesterday, my brother's ex's grandma took me, my bro, his current GF, the girls, her granddaughter and who I assume is her new boyfriend to Cici's Pizza.

:) Later we all (except for my brother's ex's grandma) went to Magic Kingdom.

:( We missed the parade, found a terrible place to watch the fireworks, and spent a half-hour in line so the girls could meet two of the fairies from Tinkerbell.

:) That last part was adorable, though!

 Before we left, my brother, his ex and her BF went on a roller coaster while I stayed behind with the girls and his GF. This led to an argument between them, since it was a hassle to get back to the parking lot since it was just around closing. The line for the monorail was a bitch! But at least I got to ride the ferry there, which was better.

:) It was kinda chilly last night and I wish my long pants and hoodie weren't in storage. I can probably score some jeans from the thrift store tomorrow if I get up that far, but a hoodie's another case, since the only way I'll wear another hoodie is if it's a zip-up hoodie (like my hoodie), a dark color (like my hoodie) and has a pop culture tie-in (like my "Zombie vs Shark" hoodie).

Lemme know if you have any questions! I love helping people discover Linux. The Internet is a great source of knowledge, but there's a lot of bad practices that can be picked up by simply reading "How-to" posts.

:D Might get a job with the school system back home. I won't be dealing with Linux/UNIX much, but some of their servers are *nix based. I'll start out in a "go-for" position and try to work my way up. This is exactly what I wanted.

:? Another hosting company also contacted me about a position. It's really tempting and I haven't shut that door just yet, but I rather go back home and get out of this mess. Taking the other position requires me to move further away. I'm thinking about doing the Interview for the school first and then the hosting company at a later date. That way I can keep my options open.

:( We're really starting to dig deep into savings. Moving back home will be easy, because we have tons of help from family members. We also have places to stay if we move back home. If the hosting position isn't immediate, there's no way we'll be able to afford another move on our own.

:? Got another job offer from a company that's right here in Houston. I just barely meet their requirements, and I'm not very comfortable performing some of the tasks they listed. I'm afraid even if I took the job I wouldn't be able to perform well.

:D Finally installed Linux on the Mac-Mini. Holy crap this is so much faster than Snow Leopard! I'm creating my own little "SteamOS" until I can try out the real thing. Not sure how much better games will play, because I could barely get them to start on OS X (emulators were fine though).

:( Miss these forums, but I've just been so busy trying to get everything straightened out. Focusing on getting a job, studying for other certifications, taking care of my daughter, etc.

Funny that you're commenting, Exed, because a pun on your name is what instantly popped into my head there. "ACK'S EXES."

HUGE SMILE: Just got back from They Might Be Giant's first show on their Nanobots tour, and it was awesome. I managed to squeeze my way up to the front of the stage -- thanks to a lot of goodwill from other concertgoers -- and spent a lot of my time about two feet from John Linnell. <3

A couple of bad cell phone photos under the break.

Seriously, SO CLOSE!
BONUS ROUND: fist-bumped Flansburg, shook Danny Weinkauf's (bassist) hand, and nabbed a coveted setlist from Marty Beller (drummer).
