The only Pokemons I ever played were on GB as well. Red/Blue I thought were ok. Yellow I actually enjoyed quite a bit. But only enough to play for a few hours.

Sometimes I think about checking out a new entry to see if I'd like it more. But then there's always other games that I'm way more interested in.

Also, I'll be getting a 2DS this weekend, mostly because it's the odd thing to do. Haven't decided on Pokemon X/Y for myself yet either.
2DS is out already?

I am debating on Pokemon and Windwaker HD. My wife and I are going to be at a friends wedding out of town on Saturday and I could easily swing by to get a copy at one of the near by bigbox stores.

I have two conflicting advices:

1. No Pokemon since original Game Boy?!? You have some catching up to do (and so do I  ).

2. Well, heck, if you are getting your wife one, you may as well get the complimenting version for yourself so that you can play and trade along with.

...and finally, maybe the new release is the way to go, seeing as how Pokemon retains its value pretty well across the board on any of the respective Nintendo platforms. I's not like you'll be paying much more.

In any case, if you enjoyed the originals, I predict some Poke-gaming in your future.

I know its a huge gap, but im sure I can handle the change haha. One main reason I am intrested now is that I just recently discovered how deep training the pokemon can really be, and the competitive aspect (fighting other people) and I want to try that out. If its not my thing I am sure I will only loose a little bit of money if I have to sell it, so I might as well.

The only way I can play Red/Blue is on Super Game Boy (or more likely a SGB compatible emulator). The individual colors for the monsters gave the game such personality and I just can't go back.
Pokemon Yellow had, more or less, the same feature whether played on SGB or GBC. So despite not being able to choose your starting pokemon, it's the better of the 3 games IMO.

But yeah, I stopped sometime after getting a couple Mews (love that glitch  ).

Well it's settled then. If you want to get in on the versus/multiplayer end of the game series, there's no better place than the current generation.

I never really cared for that aspect of the game myself. But I can understand the appeal.

I am all for competitive play in most games, but I find breeding and leveling in Pokemon to be pretty boring. Not spending several hundred hours doing that.
