Reasons to own a Jaguar CD?
Other than the fact that it looks like a toilet and it is rare to own a working one? I know it has a handful of exclusives, but I am really curious to what games would make it worth it. Thoughts?

Re: Reasons to own a Jaguar CD?
to my memory, I don't think any of the officially released CD games were exclusives. Though homebrew may well be the reason to own one. I've actually wondered if JagCD emulation has come along enough to be worth checking out. With the high death-rate of the actual JCD hardware, I'd be nervous to drop any real money on one personally.

I believe three commercial titles are still exclusive:
Highlander
Hover Strike
Battlemorph
I know that Baldies got ported and it is soso in my opinion.

Reason to own one? I don't think there is one, unless you have a fetish for rare, obscure consoles that have very few quality titles. Not only that, but they cost an arm and a leg...

Re: Reasons to own a Jaguar CD?
I get a kick out of the Jag CD with that VLM in the CD player.
I don't know much regarding the Proto's, and the Jag CD homebrew scene,
but the top CD games I'd say are Battlemorph, Iron Soldier 2, and Highlander. Although the latter seems to divide opinions.
Of the rest that I've played I'd say Hover Strike is decent, Vid Grid is kinda fun, and Baldies is ok if you like the simcity/populous/warcraft type stuff.

There really aren't any amazing games that I can recall for the Jaguar CD. I just got lucky and found it for super cheap. I like collecting systems just as much as games so that's why I wanted to add it to my collection.

If I had enough disposable income I would already own one. Interesting piece of gaming history.

Re: Reasons to own a Jaguar CD?
None.
...Sorry, I just had to. Battlemorph and Hover Strike are generic 3D space shooters but you might get a kick out of Highlander, the only exclusive besides Vid Grid (which isn't really a game). Such a horrible game, and the whole though that the only Highlander game in existence is a Jaguar CD exclusive is mind blowing. Like why would that game only exist on such an obscure platform. And the game itself is kind of in the so bad it's funny category.
If you add the homebrews into the mix, then there are actually more than 3 exclusives for the system
Official
Baldies (initially an exclusive, later ported to other systems)
Battlemorph (exclusive)
Blue Lightning (bundled)
Brain Dead 13 (port)
Dragon's Lair (port)
Highlander: The Last of the MacLeods (exclusive)
Hover Strike: Unconquered Lands (exclusive)
Iron Soldier 2 (cancelled, but later released in both cartridge & CD format by Telegames)
Myst (port)
Primal Rage (port)
Robinson's Requiem (cancelled, but later released by Songbird Productions)
Space Ace (port)
Vid Grid (bundled)
World Tour Racing (cancelled, but later released by Telegames)
Prototypes
American Hero
Black Ice/White Noise
Brett Hull NHL Hockey
Caves Of Fear
Commander Blood
Demolition Man
Slam Racer
Soul Star
Varunas Forces
Homebrew
Asteroids
Atomic
Black Out
Beebris
Diam Jag
Do The Same
Double Feature #1
Downfall
Frog Feast
Full Circle: Rocketeer
GORF Classic
Impulse X
Jagmania
Jagmarble (incomplete)
Jagtris
Kobayashi Maru
Lost Treasures
Native (Incomplete)
Martian Invasion
Ocean Depths
Orion Jaguar Collection
Painter
Superfly DX

I've heard they're one of the most unreliable systems ever made.

Re: Reasons to own a Jaguar CD?
I own one. I got it for cheap(ish) years ago. I really just am in the "fetish for hardware" category. Honestly, I'd love to get a second so I could try to make the combined cd/cart system that someone on AA made, but I don't want to try it on my primary systems. Buuuuut no way am I dropping the kinda money they're commanding now on that.
But yeah. I doubt I've put more than 8 hours on the system since purchasing it. I just really, REALLY like collecting hardware.
