Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness
Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness
I just want to get a feel for how many Disgaea fans are on here. Personally i've binged recently on the Disgaea series in order to get ready for D2 and I can't wait to pick it up later. Any thoughts on how it is so far for those who've picked it up?

Disgaea is just way too grindy for my tastes. The battle system is fun, I love the sense of humor, the characters, and the world, but that grinding is just on a level I don't have much patience for.

Yeah the grinding can get ridiculous towards the post game, but I always found it so rewarding when you see how absurd your stats are, and that I love.AppleQueso wrote:Disgaea is just way too grindy for my tastes. I didn't grind at all that I can remember in Disgaea 3, the only one I have completed. Disgaea 4 seemed better, but I never finished it. More likable cast. Protag that wasn't annoying. D3 protag is pretty annoying.. I like the series more on portable which is why I will probably pass on Disgaea D2 until it makes its' way to Vita.

Yeah, I wish I played the portable versions which would have made the grinding so much better, but it'll be a long time till D2 comes to the Vita since I don't think the 4th game has been ported over yet.ZenErik wrote:I like the series more on portable which is why I will probably pass on Disgaea D2 until it makes its' way to Vita.

I've meant to get into Disgaea forever... but I feel like I should start with the first game.

It's pretty cheap on Ps2. PSP version's a tad more expensive, but not by much.noiseredux wrote:I've meant to get into Disgaea forever... but I feel like I should start with the first game.
You can also get them on PSN (either version) for pretty cheap.

I was thinking DS version. I feel like I'd play it a lot more if it were in portable form.
Re: Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness
If you want the best version of the first game, definitely splurge for the PSP version. It's got all the little touches present in the later games that are really useful (like skipping battle animations) and has more post-game content. The DS version is pretty much the same as the PSP version, just with worse graphics/sound and I think it's more expensive.AppleQueso wrote:It's pretty cheap on Ps2. Re: Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness
yeah well I added my PSP to my sale list earlier today because I don't really ever play it and all the games I'd want for it I can get elsewhere. So the DS version sounds fine to me, haha.
