Being that Wii-U is considered "next-gen", and in addition to the fact Nintendo and most major retailers are foaming at the mouth to push units, I can't see the business logic as to not supplying a healthy quantity of 1st party software to consumers.

This is all just speculation backed by nothing, so...

I'm kinda glad that people are reporting Wind Waker being sold out at major retailers. That might mean that the demand is strong for the physical release. I'm not a fan of digital copies of full retail games like Wind Waker. I'm not looking forward to the day, if it comes, when it's digital only.

Perhaps retailers knew that the game was released digitally on September 20th, two weeks ago, and didn't anticipate huge demand for the physical release so they didn't stock as many copies as they would have normally. On the other hand, I've had Game Stop employees tell me a few times that first party Nintendo games are "hard to get" the week and even week after launch.

I was in Gamestop this past Thursday or so, and they were sold out of GTAV for 360 (at least), through the weekend (not what I was there for, but another customer asked). While I know it's not really related to the Wii U, the point is more that supply can be short for even games they know to order boatloads of.

Of course they're going to tell you that games are in short supply around release...sets up the suggestion to preorder anything you know you'll want

Zelda Windwaker HD damn near destroyed my relationships with my family and loved ones this weekend.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

haha, I put in a good amount of time as well, I just got the Iron Boots, and am on my way to get what I assume is a power bracelet. Not sure how far along I am over all, but I put in some hours for sure, I just got the ability to "fast travel" via the cyclones, so that should help the back and forth that seems to be common. I wont use it all the time though, I enjoy the sailing.

My play time totals for the weekend of 9/20 (when I got the WW bundle) are hilarious. It's literally off the chart!

Looks like Rayman Legends is 39.99 right now at gamestop, might have to stop by and grab it for that price.

I do too! I've never understood why so many people hated the sailing since it seems like half the game is all the crazy things you get to do at sea. It reminds me of that same feeling I get when I play a game like Skyrim. I set out with a clear goal and on the way I get distracted by a thousand small little tasks like salvaging treasure, charting islands, dodging sharks, altering the weather, fighting pirates, getting into cannon battles - by the time I get where I was going, I have trouble remembering what I was doing. It's that much fun for me.

I have to say that this game really sets the bar high for HD remakes. Comparing the bump this game got and the shabby treatment other "HD" games received (looking at you, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection), it's unreal the amount of improvement Nintendo produced.
