So I just beat Final Fantasy Tactics.
...does this game have multiple endings or something? The 'epilogue' with Delita and Ovelia seems pretty out of left field and doesn't feel like a serious ending.
The game itself was fun, but the difficulty curve is all messed up. I struggled in the beginning of the game, but by the end it was TOTALLY BROKEN and I was breezing through everything with T.G. Cid/Orlandu. I can see why people replay this game so much though; I thought I'd be turned off by each character being massively customizable, but it ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the game!

Re: RPG Progress Report
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (SNES/PSX) is a lot better in my book. Far more challenging (consistently. You think special name characters mean anything in this one? Think again!) and the story was a lot better with real true branching paths and decisions that can change things up a lot.
That sums up my issues with FFT. The story completely falls apart towards the end and the difficulty curve is just jacked up. Most of the unique characters you end up getting just flat out break the game.
I'm also not a huge fan of how limited you were in a lot of the battles unit wise. In the TO games you get to control 10 no matter what (not sure about very early on, but yeah). And the class systems just seem a lot less tedious to manage than the job system in FFT.
I've beaten FFT twice and this is before I played TO... I don't know. FFT just wasn't something I loved. However as time goes on, I find myself enjoying games with more customization are more fun to go back to and replay... like FFV which I completely love now. So maybe I'll have to give FFT another shot someday and see if my thoughts have changed. But I'm definitely sure there's nothing that'll make me put it above TO.
Or Vagrant Story! Haha... but yeah I love most of Matsuno's stuff anyways. I just think FFT is a little lower on the scale than most of the world thinks.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Just got Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, and Fire Emblem: Awakening. I like them both a lot so far but haven't got to play them much. I've liked every Mario RPG that I've played but I haven't gotten far enough in this one to really make a judgement on this one. Alls I know is so far there's a lot of story and not much action. Fire Emblem on the other hand seems to have a good mixture of both. I've watched a friend of mine play a ton of Super Robot Wars games and watched another play through Final Fantasy Tactics and it got me wanting to try my hand in a stragety game. So far I'm really digging it.
Even the horses are cut in half......

Super Robot Wars and FFT (nor Fire Emblem for that matter) aren't strategy games

Final Fantasy IV advance
Just defeated Cagnazzo. Now off to some grinding and collecting some equipment around the world map.
When does FFIV really start to pick up some steam?

As much as I loved the original, I think the PSP remake is better in most regards. SE did a gregreat job with it an is one of my favorite games.Xeogred wrote:Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (SNES/PSX) is a lot better in my book. Far more challenging (consistently. When you talk about the remake, are you referencing TO or FFT here?Jmustang1968 wrote:As much as I loved the original, I think the PSP remake is better in most regards. Re: RPG Progress Report
Sorry TO.
The FFT remake is mixed. Some slowdown. The story is cleared up some, but the dialog is hit or miss.
TO was a remake. FFT was mostly a port with a new translation and a little bit of new content.
