Video games with Spanish subtitles and/or language options.

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

Video games with Spanish subtitles and/or language options.

Post by MrEco »

Okay, so Christmas is coming up soon and I have a very specific kind of person I'm looking to buy a present for that I'd like your help with.

You see, my sisters boyfriend doesn't speak very good English. He understands it well enough to (decently) hold a conversation, but he struggles when it comes to playing most video games. However, he also really enjoys video games.

They own an original Xbox, a PS2, and a PS3. He mostly likes action games, shooters, and racing games. Though I think he'd enjoy just about anything so long as its not overly complicated (He's definitely not the kind of gamer to pop in an RPG any time soon).

So do any of you know of some games that fall into those categories which offer the option for Spanish subtitles or voice overs? Or perhaps can someone link me to a resource which does?
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

I'm not sure of a list a list of games that would support it, but with the PS3, if the console is set to a certain language in the settings, games with multilingual data will typically switch automatically to the system default. (In this case Spanish.)

I think most of the XBOX games have a spanish translation (even if your game is NTSC) if your console is in that languaje. Some game that i know they have MK shaolin monks, Halo 2, Unreal Championship, Doom 3.

For the PS2 you WILL need to get him the PAL versions of the games. Most capcom PAL games have a language selector.

The PS3 is a bit more easier since, like the xbox, most games have a spanish translation that goes automacticly if your console is set in that languaje. GoW series, Call of Duty, Resident evil, Enslaved, Yakuza dead souls are some games that i already know they have spanish language.

EDIT:

Quick google search, you can know the region of the PS3 games with the code on the side of the box

BCUS - sony US game
BCES - sony EU game
BLUS- 3rd party US game
BLES- 3rd party EU game

Most of my games were BLUS and they still have a spanish translation (either on subtitles or audio).

I tried asking this a few years ago, but my thread died quickly.

Lets hope this thread lasts longer than mine did.

One NTSC PS2 series that has spanish options is Ratchet And Crank.

I've played it. But it has Spaniard spanish voices.

Doesn't speak English very well.

Get the guy into retro games, where there is no narration.

Haha yeah... This.

Many Western Adventure/RPG games have multiple language options. Guess that doesn't help too much if he's not into RPGs though...
