I just saw Gravity. This thing is definitely winning some technical awards at the next Oscars. It definitely evokes some of Apollo 13, but due to the circumstances is a much more personal story. I highly recommend it.

Entrapment. Great movie, staring Catherine Zeta Jones and Sean Connery. An older movie (1999). All the actors played their roles very well, of course. And Catherine Zeta Jones in the spandex and tight black outfits... wow!

Also watched the horrible train wreck of a movie Battlefield Earth. For those not familiar with this movie, it is based on the novel by L. Ron Hubbard (Scientology founder). I swear it, if you listen hard enough... you hear subliminal messages about Xenu or Xanadu, whichever.

009 Re: Cyborg the 2012 film......pretty crappy actually. Some of the action scenes were ok, but the designs were overly generic, the story was boring and the philosophical dialogue was more pretentious than a Xeno game. Just stick to the trailers people if you want to get the good experience of this film

Soldier of Orange

I believe this is the first film I watch of the venerable Rutger Hauer speaking in his native tongue. Check it out if you're into WWII dramas.

I listened to an interview with Sandy B. on NPR yesterday morning. Major Spoilers:
What? This movie wasn't shot in space? Pffffffft.
She said that during almost every shot there were around 250 stage hands working the wires and tethers.

Watched LIFE OF PI again on the small screen. It's still pretty, but loses a lot by not being on a grandiose level.

Saw Gravity today. Lived up to the hype. I enjoyed it, despite generally loathing Sandra Bullock and avoiding films with her in it. I also broke my "no 3D" rule for this one, and was glad I did. Lots of things I don't normally like came together very well and genuinely impressed.

Is it an entertainment movie or is it one of those movies that is more about art than entertainment, where they do weird stuff to provoke the mind and give all kinds of symbolisms and references.

Watched the Boondock Saints for like the tenth time the other day. Love that movie. Haven't seen the second one yet but I hear it's not as good.

The premise of this movie just doesnt do much for me. It may end up better than it seems, but I won't go to the theatre for it. Maybe it will be one of those pleasant surprises.
