I would lean towards yes. It's pretty likely -- either that, or whatever has replaced Facebook/Twitter 20 years from now. I'll need somewhere to post my clever sarcastic observations after all -- they don't "like" themselves, and I desperately need the validation.Xeogred wrote:What's extra weird is to imagine if Facebook and such will still be around 10-20+ years from now. Was thinking about that the other day.
Re: Does social networking irk you?
I never watch the news but man people don't joke, I caught some of it today and pretty much every single story or picture etc was referenced to "Facebook sources".
It's just funny how I was kind of addicted to the internet and stuff like this 10 years ago or something, now I keep taking steps to remove myself from these things and be more of a hermit. lol, and the irony is hilarious when my parents always knocked on me about gaming/computer time, when they are completely hooked into it nowadays themselves. Yep, my mom is always on Facebook and it's not fun.

That's probably because the internet was quite different 10 years ago.Xeogred wrote: It's just funny how I was kind of addicted to the internet and stuff like this 10 years ago or something, now I keep taking steps to remove myself from these things

I, similar to Xeogred, have slowly distanced myself from social networking since graduating college, and most of the people I actually care about have also. I do think social networking is irksome, but mostly in that I hate the way real journalism is being sidelined in favor of puling stories from what's "trending." Of course, I've been upset by the state of journalism since before the real incursion of social media, but now it's truly a circus, and really upsetting.
Also, I'm not entirely sure how he did it—and the way he described it, it seemed like he used the same method I would to deactivate—but my roommate from college erased any and all traces of himself on Facebook. Not a single response or "like" is left. So, it is possible.

Not to be off-topic, but are the Canucks still contenders?

The Penguins will make the playoffs and get bullied around and flake out as usual.pierrot wrote: He knows the Penguins are in the East, right?
Not as much as they were a few years ago.EvilRyu2099 wrote:Not to be off-topic, but are the Canucks still contenders?
edit* A friend of mine posted a picture of her at a Depeche Mode concert. I commented "KMFDM".
Her response = ?
I might have to give her the boot.
Re: Does social networking irk you?
Sure, but they're still a blockade during the regular season. Last year, three Northeast Division teams made the playoffs, and all three are in the new Atlantic division. Let's say, hypothetically, they did clinch the division, they still have to play down from their own division in the playoffs. "Coast" is a little insulting. The Red Wings didn't join last year's Southeast division, after all. Red Wings will fit in well to the Northeast division 2.0, but the Bs, Habs, Leafs and (even though they lost Alfredsson to the Red Wings) Sens are bound to give them all they can handle.Luke wrote:The Penguins will make the playoffs and get bullied around and flake out as usual.pierrot wrote: He knows the Penguins are in the East, right?
