All of you who are decrying it as "It's weird" or "I don't like change" or "I'm going to stick with my old-style controller"...

Have you forgotten how different the Playstation controller was when you first laid hands on it? I know I for one was like "Holy crap am I ever going to get used to this?" and yet, basically every controller that's come out since then has been based on it.

So chalk another one up for the "Don't knock it until you try it" crowd.

Exactly my point! Heck, even the SNES controller was a LITTLE out there with the shoulder buttons, but it seemed a natural progression from the NES controller, a good way to work more buttons in.

Also, I really gotta get my hands on a European SNES controller or 2... the colored buttons were just so much nicer than the purple/grayishpurple ones we got in the states. But I'm a snob about first part controllers so I don't want an offbrand just for the buttons.

They had to make our controllers prettier because we had to spend more time looking at them because our games are 17% slower.

I think he meant that the Playstation controller was just a SNES controller with extra shoulder buttons. Then later joysticks.

ps. Steam Box is like a apple product, youll need to update every 6 months to play the latest releases.

I don't know if I agree with that. The Steam Machine's will basically be a small form factor gaming PC. I have a regular PC that I've been been using and upgrading parts since 2008. The CPU is a gen 1 i7-920 and can still run every game maxed out.

I think Valve mentioned that you will be able to upgrade the boxes yourself.

It appears my iPhone 5, over a year old, and iPad 4th gen, almost a year old still work just fine. And if anyone wants to spew that sort of crap, mobile devices from other manufacturers with other operating systems have the same issues. After 3+ years they may no longer see any support. Sorry, but that is just the way things are currently. Mobile SoC's are improving at a crazy rate each year.

Steambox is exciting. I hope it does well. It's more interesting than the PS4 and Xbox One, but as someone that tends to gravitate towards JRPGs and other Japanese developed games, I am not sure it'll get much support there. Certainly will have my eye on it though.

I applaud Valve for being fearless enough to try something so different; on the other hand, I am skeptical about the quality of the finished product. I can't say for certain until I hold this controller in my own hands.

Agarast War was released on Steam this week actually, which surprised me a bit.

Yea. I am aware that there are SOME. Like Ys games as well. Will also have to see if they get ported to Linux/SteamOS.
