The PS4 thread
Re: The PS4 thread
I have been on the fence about my ps4 preorder for some time now, I had gotten all caught up in the hype train that was E3, and preordered without a second thought. Now that it is coming down to the wire, I look at the launch games, and what is coming out in the following months, and dont think its worth getting at launch. There is also the fact that many good games are still set to launch for systems I already have, and a $400 purchase plus games would hinder these other games for sure.

Re: The PS4 thread
I agree that it's not really worth buying at launch. At least for someone with my gaming tastes. Yet I have not canceled my pre-order. Hmm. Still debating.jay_red wrote:I have been on the fence about my ps4 preorder for some time now, I had gotten all caught up in the hype train that was E3, and preordered without a second thought. Re: The PS4 thread
This is where I sit as well. I'm pretty sure I will cancel it in the 11th hour, but I like to keep my options open. Really the game I'm most looking forward to is inFamous: Second Son, so I might as well just wait until February to get a PS4. I'll probably just get the One at launch with Ryse, BF4, and Watch Dogs.ZenErik wrote:I agree that it's not really worth buying at launch. At least for someone with my gaming tastes. Re: The PS4 thread
I'm still leaning towards both launch day purchases. Killzone is a must for me and cross-platform games (e.g. Watch Dogs) would be great to have on the PS4 so that I can take it on the go with a Vita or play it on another TV with Vita TV (if it comes out). I can't see a good argument for buying multiplat stuff on the Xbox One yet, especially since the PS4 is a little beefier in raw specs, the controller is said to be outstanding, and the coding issues from last gen are virtually non existent...

Re: The PS4 thread
Second Son looks pretty cool. But whether or not I play it kind of depends on whether there are a bunch of JRPGs I am playing at the time or not. Or whether I am playing much Diablo 3 or WoW. Or trying Guild Wars 2 again, haha. We'll see.Stark wrote:This is where I sit as well. I'm pretty sure I will cancel it in the 11th hour, but I like to keep my options open. As for the One, it does look interesting, but I am far more likely to buy multi-platform/multiplayer games on PS4 because that is what most of my friends will have and because I am pretty invested in PSN/PS+. Or at least far more invested in PSN/PS+ than I am in XBL. Don't even have a XBL subscription currently.
Re: The PS4 thread
Yeah, I think I would be more interested in Killzone if I had really played the previous titles. That being said Killzone: Shadow Fall looks mind blowing. I'm getting Mercenary this week, so that might get me sucked into the world a little more and get me super on-board.dsheinem wrote:I'm still leaning towards both launch day purchases. I'm totally with you on the multi-plat purchases on PS4, especially with Watch Dogs as it has extra content available only on PS4, but if I only get a One, I want Watch Dogs launch day, so...

Re: The PS4 thread
I canceled my preorder about a week ago. There's a few reasons why. For one, There's no launch titles that interest me. Everything is available on the PS3 system and nothing's really interesting. Second, specs aren't going to being visible for at least one year or so. I mean, for a good while the games will look exactly like PS3 games. Last and my favorite reason, PS3 games are starting to get cheap.jay_red wrote:I have been on the fence about my ps4 preorder for some time now, I had gotten all caught up in the hype train that was E3, and preordered without a second thought. Edit: What a coincidence. You guys are talking about holding off for Infamous too.
Re: The PS4 thread
If you've been paying attention to trailers for games that are PS3 & PS4 or 360 and Xbox One, this is clearly not the case. Differences are already pretty apparent: http://kotaku.com/the-xbox-360-version- ... 1437631835oxymoron wrote:For a good while the games will look exactly like PS3 games.
A lot of current-gen ports are being worked on by "B Team" people (probably people who previously made cross platform games for Nintendo's console). They won't "look exactly like" current gen games at launch, and the differences will get wider in short order (look at the visuals on games planned for Spring/Summer 2014, for example)
Re: The PS4 thread
They've also shown what games like Ryse used to look like before they moved it to One and it's pretty drastic.

Re: The PS4 thread
This already isn't true if you just look at PC versions of current games. Compare the PC and console versions of a game like BF3 and it's night and day. Even with news that the PS4 version isn't quite on par for BF4, I still expect the next-gen versions will be closer to the PC versions than the previous gen consoles.oxymoron wrote: I mean, for a good while the games will look exactly like PS3 games.
