It's one of the best games ever made. There are less than ten games I put in that category. So I heavily recommend it.dunpeal2064 wrote:I had not heard of netrunner, but it looks pretty interesting!

Re: Getting back into Magic the Gathering
I have been playing steadily since shards block, but haven't played as much this year. I missed the Theros release events.dunpeal2064 wrote:Thought I'd bump this instead of making a new thread.
Just recently started getting back into this, and was wondering if anyone else was spellslinging around here?
The newest set has been a blast so far!

I am intrigued, but my wallet is upset by this. I'll definitely give it a try though, and come back here to report.
Nice! I actually just got back into it around the release of Dragon's Maze. I was a little bummed to miss out on the Innistrad block, but I am very pleased with Theros so far. The new mechanics are awesome.Jmustang1968 wrote:

I've been doing Tuesday night drafts when time permits, and now I've got a playgroup for EDH on Thursdays, which has been a lot of fun. There was a very long period where I just stopped building decks because I didn't want to deal with making the standard "competitive" decks. But with EDH it's much easier to make something that can do well without having to create a massively tuned thing that curves out every time. I've got five complete decks, two in construction, and another two in the conception phase.

I haven't played constructed in awhile. I have really focused on limited. I would love to go to OKC this weekend for sealed GP but too much going on.

Re: Getting back into Magic the Gathering
Right so I played Magic heavily for alittle over three years and after reading this thread I have no idea what cards yall are talking about. Granted those years were Alpha/Beta to Ice Age/Mirage... I sold most of my cards but kept my favorite deck - ten Mountains and fifty lighting bolts, thats still viable right? I remember beating a Plague Rat deck with it in the last round of a tournament.
Every once and a while I get the itch to play Magic, Dominion can only scratch the itch so well. But the original release of Netrunner (which my copy is signed by Richard Garfield) and games like Wizwar have kept me from diving back in. Thankfully the Romance of the Nine Empires game came out and it is Legend of the Five Rings in a fixed box format, based on a game from the movie Gamers 3 Hands of Fate. If you play CCGs you need to see the film, even if you havent seen the second Gamers Movie, Hands of Fate will give you a good laugh.

I've heard that the Netrunner released by Fantasy Flight is supposed to be solid, anyone play that yet?

Re: Getting back into Magic the Gathering
It is the original game in a fixed format, so yeah its solid. 99% of my classic netrunner games were just with the starter decks (which were standardized) and the game was nigh perfect. Android Netrunner is apparently better with expansions, but still a solid title in just the box. Ive not bought it yet, but it is high on my want list.Stark wrote:I've heard that the Netrunner released by Fantasy Flight is supposed to be solid, anyone play that yet?

Re: Getting back into Magic the Gathering
Netrunner is so freaking expensive since the cards are long out of print. I used to play that game too. Too bad it never really took off. I used to play a lot of card games back in the day. I play MtG, I got into it near the end days of revised edition (3rd for those who don't know). I still play MtG but I play it off and on. I was really hardcore into it from Revised to Stronghold. From there I played on and off. I also played Netrunner for a bit, Rage since the cards where cheap, Jyhad (it was Vampire but that is what the limited edition was called at the time), Marvel Overpower, Star Wars which was a bit complex to play and Mythos.General_Norris wrote:It's one of the best games ever made.
