MTGOTraders has very fair prices, many times the lowest ones even. He will usually have any single card in stock (he can get a particular card out of stock temporarily of course). You can trust him with your store credit (i.e. if you buy something for a fractional price his bots will keep the change until the next time you use them). He has plenty of bots so you are never really waiting long until you get to trade, he has a website showing his stock in real time http://www.mtgotraders.com
He accepts paypal funds directly - if you pay with paypal funds he gives you a discount.

Also worth pointing out, the guy that owns the store is a genuinely nice guy. Although that obviously also has some business benefits he sponsors loads of neat stuff, for example:
1. he runs a bot giving away free commons (64 per month per user account); it takes a while to get into it as other people are trading with it all the time and you won't get the best ones there anyway, but there is even some stuff that is playable competitively and loads and loads of nice stuff for your non-competitive events.
2. he gives prize support for some free to enter player run events.
3. he hosts and sponsors writers of a very relevant MTGO content website http://www.puremtgo.com which has some very good articles every week (one highlight is the "State of the Program" article on Fridays).
I thought this should be pointed out because that kind of community service means something for many customers (it means something for me, which is one big reason I'm posting about it).

So basically as far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with MTGOTraders, it is very likely the single most convenient choice and you don't even pay a premium for it.

Now if you have lots of time and don't mind hunting around, you CAN get lower prices for some cards at any given time - with hot cards in particular check the message board in-game for prices and post your own "buy" message (sadly, not automated auction-style trading). I can also give you some other traders but you have to be willing to check the price in several "stores" and you usually end up not saving more than 1 buck even when buying a playset (4x of a card). Depends how frugal you are.

I want to get into the Legend of the Five Rings CCG. I'm waiting for my friend who actually knows the rules to come back though.

Going to my first tournament in 8 years tomorrow with a homebrew deck scrapped together from my two friends and I.

I expect to get trounced, but the chance to embarrass someone with land that costs more than my entire deck is too much to pass up.

If you are looking to compete with a cheap deck, look into "Mono Red" decks. While they aren't always the greatest for high level tournaments, you should be able to do fairly well at local FNMs, etc. with them, and only be out a few bucks.

And good luck!

Didn't have time to buy anything.

Surprisingly, I won the FNM. I borrowed most of the cards from my friends, but the deck worked even though it was a bit janky.

Here is the list

20x Swamp
2x Inkmoth Nexus

2x Grave Titan
4x Vampire Nighthawk
4x Black Knight
4x Pulse Tracker
2x Phyrexian Crusader
1x Wurmcoil Engine
2x Lashwrithe
3x Vault Skirge
4x Geth's Verdict
2x Dismember
1x Go for the Throat
1x Doom Blade
2x Black Sun's Zenith
4x Darksteel Axe
1x Sword of Feast and Famine

The crusaders were a late edition my other friend suggested, and they made the difference in my two final matches as they gave red deck wins fits, and in the final match with mono white knights it and black knight were the only reason i could win.

Might not get to go again till the pre release, but had a lot of fun and didn't even see caw blade or valakut.

Thought I'd bump this instead of making a new thread.

Just recently started getting back into this, and was wondering if anyone else was spellslinging around here?

The newest set has been a blast so far!

I made a couple of decks for casual play but I don't even play those anymore and with Netrunner around I don't think I will anytime soon.

I had not heard of netrunner, but it looks pretty interesting!

I know constructed play is a bit of a commitment, but Theros is a lot of fun to do sealed/draft, or even pack war with. Tons of flavor, and some really crazy plays that can happen just with the commons in the set.

Granted, I am a sucker for greek mythology, so I may be biased towards this set.
