I usually feel like I'm "too fast" in Gradius III...

Homura pretty decent shooter!

NEVER!!!!!!! I love being fast, but only if I select Reduce as my ? powerup, which is about 99% of the time.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I usually feel like I'm "too fast" in Gradius III...

Yeah, I actually feel tremendously slow in Gradius III, as opposed to 1 or 2.ExedExes wrote:NEVER!!!!!!! I love being fast, but only if I select Reduce as my ? powerup, which is about 99% of the time.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I usually feel like I'm "too fast" in Gradius III...

Ikaruga is now on Steam Greenlight:

Not entirely sure why it needs to go via Greenlight, but I guess it should have a good chance of getting released...

Finally got around to popping in Guwange
This has everything I love about a good shmup:

Yeah, Guwange is a blast. The difficulty gets pretty hellish pretty fast, and it's not well suited for perfectionists with the game-long chaining. (Or maybe it is.) I was really excited to make it to about midway through stage 3 on one credit, while playing for score.

Played Ikaruga for the first time in well over a year. It looks WAY better with the GC component cables, and it also supports progressive scan. I cleared out all my old ranking data and ended up with a score that was 20K less than my previous best from 2012. If only I wasn't running into every piece of industrial scenery in stage 2, I'd have made it farther.

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Finally had some time to scratch a bit of that shmup itch with the following:
Dodonpachi DOJ BL: Game is even better than I remember. I was going to warm up with Ketsui, but I find it easier to ignore scoring and get my chops up in this one (since I am shit at chaining). It is still a joy to make it to stage 4 and hear that excellent BGM.
Sengoku Ace: Saw this on my Mame list and realized I'd never tried it out, so I dove in... and ended up playing it for over an hour! It is a bit easier than the average Psikyo shooter (which is fine by me), and I've managed to make it to stage 1-7 so far. I think I'll try to make this my first Psikyo 1-ALL
Fire Barrel: Again, wanted to try something new for a bit. Pretty fun Raiden-esk game by Irem, with some kickass tunes. Like Raiden, you may as well only have one life, as enemies become near-unkillable after losing your powerups.
I think the shmup fever has taken over once again

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
I've been trying to kill Crystal Core for one hour and I still get killed by the same exact bullet pattern. Grrrrr.
I suppose he's hard because his level is very easy. Cool, but easy.
I have to say, facing the same boss over and over again has made me realize how well done it is. Now I think the game is better
