I tried it out at a store and it's amazingly fun :D. Definetly a great reason to buy a Wii U. Tell us about all the Nintendo references you run into in the game :D

So I knew how the Wii to Wii U transfer works, but I just looked into it in full detail (for my specific situation) and I'm not very happy how it works. I'll have to post about it when I get the chance.

It's one of those games that I heard the title of and automatically disregarded it. But I keep hearing about it more and more, I'm gonna have to look into it.

Oh dude it's amazing. At least the little I have played of it, and from what I could tell from all the gameplay videos I saw. Maybe they have a demo of it at a nearby store you can try out?

Actually....does Nintendo not released demos for their games on the Wii U online shop? Is it as bad as the 3DS's?

Yeah, I checked out the available demos on the U eShop. No Nintendo games. I guess they figure they're games are good enough and more well known that they don't even need demos. As far as I'm concerned, they are correct. I wouldn't bother with a demo of a Nintendo game, personally.

IIRC, there's no demo on the eShop for Lego City. I guess I'll just have to watch some gameplay videos and make a decision.

Are all Lego games made this way? I never bought a Lego game, I thought it was directed for 12 years and younger.

Most "kids" games are not actually kids games, they're all ages ... and there's a big difference there. There may be a lower age restriction, but there's no upper age restriction so the games are designed to be enjoyed by anyone ... not just a 12 year old. If it were a kids game, it would seem remedial to an adult to play it, which is not the case.

Lego City Undercover plays similarly to other Lego games only in a rudimentary way. It's not explicitly level based (it's open world with missions) and it's single player only. The game is fun, it's pretty long, and there's a lot to do.

Worst part of the game:
You can only ride/drive the T-Rex once. You can't unlock it like all the other vehicles :\

Out of the 5 or 6 times I've turned it on to play since I bought it the other day, only twice have I bothered turning on the tv as well. I've been playing primarily with the gamepad.

I have no reason to, its not like I share the tv with anyone. Its just convenient I guess.

I'm genuinely surprised by this.
This is the main reason I want a Wii-U. The only time I get to game is in the evenings and whilst I have a DS and a Wii, I prefer playing on my Wii. The problem with this is that my wife can't watch television (and she loves her soaps!) so I either end up on the laptop or having a quick game on the DS. With some great games on the Wii-U, I'm considering this over a 3DS, purely because of the ability to play it on my couch whilst still being fairly sociable!

The issue I'm having is the price, do I pay £150 ($240) for a 3DS XL or £240 ($380) for a Wii-U with Wind Waker?

Massive U system update just came out, I'm installing it now. From what I've read, it's adding a lot. The things that popped out at me were YouTube videos in the web browser working, along with various other fixes for the web browser such as PDF support, user name and password memory, maybe a few other minor things. Wii mode will now output Pro Logic II over HDMI, some other Wii mode stuff. USB keyboard support. Various system/OS fixes to speed up the console. Bunch of other stuff.

Granted, I got all this from internet reports, NOT Nintendo. I guess we'll find out exactly what's in the update tomorrow when Nintendo tells us. I just wanted to give a heads up to every one. I wasn't planning on playing my U the rest of tonight, but I turned it on to grab this update. It's pretty large, it'll take a while to download and install.

Wii mode outputs to the gamepad now. Off TV Wii games but you obviously still have to use a Wiimote. This is pretty cool. My wife watches football which bores the shit out of me. If I want to play a Wii game the gamepad essentially functions as a small TV. I imagine it is a better resolution for Wii games than the HDTV as well. It would be nice if they could have figured out a way to map controls to the gamepad itself but I believe Wiimotes utilize bt technology while the gamepad uses wifi. Maybe they can get around this eventually?

You can use the browser while in game now too apparently. This way you can upload screenshots directly to a forum or blog. Pretty neat.

I was installing the update and then the screen went black and my controller turned off. Now the system turns on but there's no display...

Guess I'm going to have to call Nintendo tomorrow.
I've never had an update brick one of my systems before. This makes me sad :(
