LCD monitors with multiple inputs

Post by fitterhans »

I am trying to find some LCD monitors that have s-video/composite inputs along with vga. Here is the models I have seen so far:

24":
Gateway FHD2400
Dell 2407 WFP-HC
NEC Multisync LCD2470WNX

19":
Viewsonic VX1932wm

I would truly like to find a 22" since the 24" are a little more than I want to pay, and the 19" seems a tad small. Any suggestions or models you know of? I am trying to do my research now so I can get something on Black Friday.

Found a few others 22" monitors:
Samsung 225MW
CHIMEI CMV 222H (not sold in US)
ASUS PG221H
Viewsonic N2230w 22"
Gateway FPD2275W 22"
Westinghouse LCM-22W2

A few of these are still out of my price range, and others seem to be models that have been replaced. It seems it not as common now for newer mid-priced models to include multiple inputs. If anyone has a model they really like let me know.

Have quite a few reviews on the monitors you specified. They also have a database with loads of monitors and their inputs and specs.

I have a Samsung that is 22'', has double input, and is rather nice. It isn't the 225 that has been mentioned already though, I think it is the 226. Probably not very different :P I got it for like 200 Euros (but I was somewhat lucky with the price).
There was another Samsung (223?) that was allegedly 22'' but was really 21.5, and also had 5 ms instead of this one which has 2ms.
If you go with a Samsung you will probably be satisfied, but with monitors I really think you should see the models on a store for yourself (even if you buy them online from somewhere else).

I have the Dell 2407 widescreen, it was a great investment been using it for a few months now. Its huge for this distance, bigger would be overkill. It has lots of inputs DVI, VGA, S-video, component and composite and a somewhat useful PIP. Right now my setup is like this:

DVI - PC
VGA - Dreamcast of course, looks pretty sweet
Component - ps2/xbox with 2-in-1 cable, found a very high quality one but couldn't get a 3-in-1 for the wii and already have wii and xbox component cables
S-video - free for anything, maybe buy a cable for saturn or snes
Composite - free for any old console but have a tv right next so never use it

Also a nice thing is its ability to go vertical, the bad thing is most dreamcast games flip the other way around so only about 2 shumps worked... was pretty sad....

Pros: looks, lots of connections, very adjustable and goes vertical easily, PIP, 2 usb slots, flash memory reader.

Cons: earlier models said to have problems check reviews mine is latest revision.

Hope it helps a little, you'll wish you had every video in high quality from now on. Go for 22" if you can't afford 24", don't go lower.
Consoles: NES, Famicom, SNES, GC, GB DMG, GB Pocket, GBC, GBA, DSI XL, N64, VBoy, NDS, 3DSXL, Wii, SMS, GEN+CD+32X, GG, SAT, DC, WS, WS Color, NGPC, XBOX, 360, PS1, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3, 3DO, CD-I, NGCD, Actionmax, TG16+CD, TE, PCE-DUO, Odyssey2, Playdia, 2600, Lynx & JAG.

I am leaning toward that model since it has all the inputs and it looks good. Thanks for the recommendation!
