Gaming keyboards - I don't think I get it?
Re: Gaming keyboards - I don't think I get it?
Also in the mouse choice for precise quick control for FPS games. However, I'm one of the few that hate the WASD approach for FPS or any keyboard controlled game. The four arrow keys for me is the best since they are placed evenly with no other keys next to them. Also prefer an older AT Keyboard with regular full sized keys and the left Windows key disabled. The Function keys isolated at the top work great for quick weapon selection.

The point of WSAD is to put more keys in easy reach though. EDSF is even better in that respect, and uses the standard "home position" for the left hand to boot. Are you using the mouse left-handed maybe?
I originally tried using the arrow keys and other, more odd setups (mapping mouse buttons for forward/back, etc) when trying to move from using just the keyboard to keyboard + mouse for FPS games. Finally just getting used to WSAD was better, but it took getting used to.

If the game uses proning, leaning on left/right/forward, ducking, sprinting or sneaking, you can't use the arrow keys. With WASD/QWES you've got shift, control, R, F, V, C, X and in some games Z, T, G and B right at your fingertips. And 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (6/7/8 if you have long fingers)+tab

Auto is good for towing and... towing. Otherwise don't be lazy, don't be disengaged from your driving, and keep you hand off that damn phone!

I drive a stick shift myself (I don't own the car though)
I know it's better when you're driving and not just getting from place to place, but I can see how some one who has to sit in morning traffic jams would prefer auto

Agree, I like the stick but auto is just more covenient. I prefer changing fluid over a clutch change anyways. Only pads I want to ever change are at the wheels.Menegrothx wrote:I drive a stick shift myself (I don't own the car though)I know it's better when you're driving and not just getting from place to place, but I can see how some one who has to sit in morning traffic jams would prefer auto

Since there was some talk about mechanical keyboards, has anybody looked into DasKeyboard? They make modern versions of them, solid and reliable mech keyboards, but without all the annoying loud clicks. Might be good for someone who's into them, they may even be better for FPS.

I've looked at them online. They're just using the same Cherry MX switches as others (choice of blues, browns, and reds), so noise would be the same really. While I don't care for the glossy base, the USB hub and media key mappings (if using USB) are nice things that many mechanicals don't offer.

I prefer the feel of chiclet keyboards.. Is there such a thing as a gaming chiclet keyboard? For a Mac? If not, I'll just stay with my regular Mac bluetooth keyboard. I like my Razer Naga for a gaming mouse. The thumb buttons I find very useful in Diablo and WoW. Haven't played many other PC games lately that require a mouse and keyboard. Usually play doujin shmups on a stick.

well here's a 1-day Amazon sale on a non-mechanical gaming keyboard for $25.

It's got 2 USB ports and an audio port for headsets.
