Playing Japanese games on Xbox (+ JRPGs)???

Post by BoneSnapDeez »

I'm trying to get the "full experience" of the 6th generation. I use a Cheats 'n Codes disc to play imports on the Dreamcast and Swap Magic for the PS2. GBA and NGPC are region-free, and I also have a WonderSwan Color.

So I suppose the regular Xbox is next. I'd like to play Japanese games on it using the simplest method possible. I do not want to modify the hardware if that's possible. Google searching has been somewhat insufficient, probably because so many folks use the term "Xbox" to describe the Xbox 360.

Also, does anyone know anything about these JRPGs? I am intrigued........

To my knowledge, the only way to play imports without modding your console is to buy a Japanese Xbox. So it's not going to be "simple" regardless.

As for the games you listed, there's a little bit on the second one (Shin Megami Tensei - Nine: Stand Alone) here: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/megaten/megaten4.htm
It's apparently... not very good.

TBH the only way to play Jap xbox and PAL is by soft modding it. Google it and all you need is a copy of either MechAssault, Splinter Cell, and or Nightfire? and an Action Replay Memory Card.

Otherwise there is no boot disc and or swap method that I know of to date that can bypass the region lock. And a game that you should play is the Xbox version of rent a hero it is kinda of an action RPG :) .
