So lets assume you are a retro gamer
and you want a dreamcast, and the laser wears out(for whatever reason)
Does this mean you have to buy ANOTHER dreamcast, or you can buy a laser spare part?
I guess in both cases, the console will eventually disappear from the face of the earth(unless someone else creates a system that runs these games)

Emulation will preserve most older consoles. However it's getting trickier with each generation. Lack of 'working' Xbox and Gamecube emulators is a bad sign.
