I'm not from America, so that might be worth pointing out, but thanks for the responses. I'm actually from the UK, where it does seem to be illegal if they are classified under the British Board of Film Classification's (BBFC).

I spent some time studying law in London, and for some reason, it blew my mind that there is no constitutionally protected "freedom of speech" in the UK.Reprise wrote:I'm not from America, so that might be worth pointing out, but thanks for the responses. It's part of the reason UK journalists are keen to work with American newspapers and websites from time to time: they can use it as a backdoor method for publishing articles that they can't publish in the UK for this exact reason.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I spent some time studying law in London, and for some reason, it blew my mind that there is no constitutionally protected "freedom of speech" in the UK.Reprise wrote:I'm not from America, so that might be worth pointing out, but thanks for the responses. I'm guessing that's a county-by-county thing, since this is honestly the first I've heard of this.Jmustang1968 wrote:I also wanted to note, and atleast in Texas, it is legal for minors to consume alcohol under parental supervision.

Wait, really? What exactly would journalists not be allowed to publish here?Ack wrote:It's part of the reason UK journalists are keen to work with American newspapers and websites from time to time: they can use it as a backdoor method for publishing articles that they can't publish in the UK for this exact reason.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I spent some time studying law in London, and for some reason, it blew my mind that there is no constitutionally protected "freedom of speech" in the UK.Reprise wrote:I'm not from America, so that might be worth pointing out, but thanks for the responses. the law is the same here in Wisconsin, you can drink with your parents in the bar. I never did but I knew kids in highschool who would get a beer with their parents. I did get champagne or wine though on holidays.AppleQueso wrote:I'm guessing that's a county-by-county thing, since this is honestly the first I've heard of this.Jmustang1968 wrote:I also wanted to note, and atleast in Texas, it is legal for minors to consume alcohol under parental supervision.

Articles critical of your intelligence services, specifically wiretapping programs executed by the GCHQ in cooperation with the NSA here, for one. The Guardian recently destroyed hard drives containing copies of files Edward Snowden had pulled and distributed to individuals like Glenn Greenwald over legal threats from the UK government. While Greenwald is "safe" in Brazil, the Guardian is not: but as Alan Rusbridger revealed on CNN last Sunday, the New York Times is because it has first amendment protections. So he had ensured that the important files had been handed over to the NYT to guarantee that the reporting would continue where it is protected, despite the UK effectively shutting down such activity in their home country.Reprise wrote:Wait, really? You can drink in bars and restaurants here from the age of 14, if accompanied by a parent, and you are having a meal.
Wow, thanks Ack. I had no idea. That's pretty interesting and scary at the same time.Ack wrote:Articles critical of your intelligence services, specifically wiretapping programs executed by the GCHQ in cooperation with the NSA here, for one. Yeah, I agree. The Bill of Rights is one reason I'm glad I'm an American, but I'm also happy to see it benefiting you guys too.Reprise wrote:Wow, thanks Ack. I had no idea. That's pretty interesting and scary at the same time.

Well some counties are dry and they can further restrict, but it is a state thing. I was TABC certified in college for bouncer/bartender jobs. It is legal to drink when with legal guardian and I even believe spouse if the spouse is over 21. However, most places refuse to sell to anyone under 21 regardless.AppleQueso wrote:I'm guessing that's a county-by-county thing, since this is honestly the first I've heard of this.Jmustang1968 wrote:I also wanted to note, and atleast in Texas, it is legal for minors to consume alcohol under parental supervision.
But at home it is legal for a parent to drink a 6 pack with a 16 yr old or to take a drink of a parents alcoholic drink at a restaurant etc.
