I picked it up yesterday on my lunch hour and bailed out of work at 2:00pm to get started on it.. The game just looks stunning.. the visuals are awesome and the animation is great. I didn't play any multiplayer since I am more interested in the mission and Co-op but I will start hitting the multiplayer games once I beat the campaign. One thing I really liked but I know some people hate, I like the regenerative health when in cover like GOW. Some people say its cheating or its not as hard.. I like covering and holding my ground.
Any other playing it? Whats your thought on the game play so far.

Re: who's playing Resistance 2?
Got it...went STRAIGHT online....killed it lol. One bad thing...>NO ONE< is getting exp. As in...everytime the stage ends...you lose it all, you can unlock any quests nothing. There is a bug somewhere im assuming that needs to be patched. Hopefully its fixed soon.
I actually wont play the story until i pick up another controller *i just got the ps3 yesterday in the mail...good timing* Me and my girl beat the first one on co-op, and we will do this one together. But all in all...online play is awesome.

I wasnt a big fan of the first Resistance, played it and it didnt phase me much, but there seems to be a buzz around this 2nd installment, I might have to rent this one, because I dont want to waste $60 on a game I might not like.

Regenerating health, in my opinion, is a good design decision when done right. I thought that Gears didn't pull it off properly, as it was a little too good. You didn't really have to use much in the way of tactics to ensure you survived (aside from the obvious avoiding the turrets). On the other hand, you have Mirror's Edge, which I think uses it perfectly. Since the focus is not on the combat, and indeed you're better off avoiding all enemies, the health gives you a safety buffer if you turn a bad corner and start getting shot at. But you can't rely on it to try and take out all the guards.
But for a standard action/shooter game, I'd say the best way to do regenerating health is based on area/encounter. In any given section, you have a finite amount of health. But it will regenerate between areas. That way, you still have to take care during combat to make sure you don't get your ass shot off, but you don't have to do medkit hunts like in the old FPS's (though those were also fun when you were at 10 health and out of medkits; lots of tension).

The one thing that helps balance this in GOW is the malee attacks and the damage of close combat.

Re: who's playing Resistance 2?
Just wanted to post an update...ive been playing this game...non fucking stop. Its dragged me in deep with the coop play. You HAVE to work together, you have to have someone give out ammo, you have to have a medic that can actually do his job...its just graet when you get with guys that know how to actually play as a team and actually play a shooter. Game is great, period.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
Re: who's playing Resistance 2?
Imported this from Canada - unfourtunatly, the game doesn't launch in Europe until the 28th, so there are no EU servers to play on and the game keeps kicking me out whenever I try to play co-op/competetive multiplayer on a US server. As such, i've been confined to the single player storyline for the time being, but I must say i'm not really enjoying it that much. I didn't really like the 1st Resistance, but the R2 beta sold me on the weight of multiplayer alone so I won't be too disapointed if the single-player campaign carries on being underwhelming. I guess i'll put this on the back-burner until some EU people start playing, i'm totally jonesing for some of that co-operative multiplayer action
