KVM switch
Anyone use one? I am looking for a hardware based one that supports higher resolutions, and I am still using a ps/2 keyboard/mouse combo. Any suggestions?
Re: KVM switch
After trying a few myself, I really haven't found a whole lot of difference.
Truthfully, I never noticed any of them having anything to do with video resolution since they're basically just switching signals. They're not doing anything with them.
I wound up buying a Trendnet USB from Radioshack. That way I can switch back and forth between my 360 and Wii without having to unplug the keyboard (which I use rarely, but hate having to mess with).
The only negative to it is it doesn't support hotkey swapping, which I might like... but, eh. It was also $20 on sale.

I use Synergy. All it requires is that your computers are connected on a network. Best of all it's free and cross-platform. There's plenty of guides out there on how to set it up.
I use it to control my Linux PC, Windows gaming box AND my Macbook Pro running OS X. It's seemless. It's like running a multi-monitor setup but across multiple computers and operating systems. With a network share set up having your files available on other systems is great.

I'll toss in a vote for Synergy. I have a KVM at work, but I find I only use it for the initial login, and afterwards it's all Synergy. You can set up your monitors any way you want and get Synergy to match the setup. You can even have it double wrap if you like. It also lets you use a shared clipboard between two PCs, which is fantastic.

Good call! Thanks! One less hardware device and it will talk to my linux box too! This is great. Thanks.
