Doubtful. The truth was uncovered a couple months ago.

The RROD issue is related to MS skimping on mobo design, going with an unproven vendor. Unless the JP models were using different parts(unlikely), it's susceptible as well.

Not to jinx myself. But I have a launch model Japanese Xbox 360. Updated the HDD to 120GB added the wifi adapter ,Vga Plug , and DOA Hori arcade stick and its been awesome.

Hoping to order Raiden 4 this weekend!

I can't remember if this was posted here yet, but Play-Asia is taking preorders for Ketsui Extra (the full name is much longer). It gets released on January 29, 2009.

So within the span of about a month, the JP 360 is getting ports of arguably Cave's best two games...and this after waiting how many years since the last home port from them?

Yup, that is exactly why I bought a NTSC/J 360. Even with what I have now, though, I'm not playing Raiden IV as much as I thought I would. I need time to sit down and play... undistracted. And without alcohol. You can't play shoot 'em ups and drink - not well, anyways.

Strangely I actually broke my DDP High score after a couple beers.

I wanted to buy an XBOX360 JPN but wanted a newer model so as to reduce the chance for RROD. I saw this from Yesasia. Does anyone know if this will be a newer version of XBOX 360 JPN with the newer chips and HDMI???

It's a 60GB, so it's got HDMI, but I don't know what motherboard that they are currently on. It was made recently, so you shouldn't be worried. Xbox 360 failure rates have come down to industry standards for those manufactured in the past year or so.

BE Careful- the "live pack" here in the States is merely the hard drive, headset, and live card.

But the weight is listed as 8000g, or about 17 pounds. A picture and description on the website would be nice :)

I think it is selling the xbox360 but not sure that's why I am not pre-ordering. Wait for more info on it. It has some technical information listed, but it's partially in Japanese.

同梱物
Xbox 360 ハードディスク(60GB)本体
Xbox 360 ヘッドセット
Xbox LIVE 3ヶ月ゴールドメンバーシップカード
LANケーブル

I am guessing it says:

xbox 360 game system with 60GB hdd
xbox 360 wireless controller???
xbox 360 live 3 months subscription
LAN internet connection

Finally got an answer from Yesasia that is the Japan version of the US Live pack. NO XBOX360 :(. Does anyone know of a place that sell the new version of the Japanese XBOX 360 with HDMI for cheap, i.e. less than 300 dollars???
