I laughed how several of these entries had "good marketing campaigns" mentioned a reason that they were good consoles.

As for the worst, I love the Sega CD, it wasn't all bad. I think...

Sega CD has Snatcher, Sonic CD, Shining Force CD, both Lunars, and Popful Mail. I think that makes up for those FMV games.

There seems to be an ongoing debate here about whether or not the Sega CD was a "failure." I think ultimately it really only appeals to "niche" gamers (and retro gamers). Most of the Genesis fans I knew back in the 90s loved the Genesis for the first-party Sega titles and sports games. They had no use for the Sega CD - stuff like Popful Mail wouldn't have sweetened the deal much. Too bad the FMV poop was pushed so hard, the legitimately great games got lost in the shuffle.

The Sega CD is an example of a management failure, not a hardware failure. It was a great idea and if it had been handled correctly (and not hampered by the splitting of resources into the 32X), it really could have been something.

But as with almost everything they did as a console manufacturer, Sega was trying to do too much, too soon.

Most of the Genesis fans I knew back in the 90s loved the Genesis for the first-party Sega titles and sports games. They had no use for the Sega CD...

You didn't know me when I was growing up. I LOVED, and still do love, the Sega CD. The music video cd, Sherlock Holmes, The Sega 4-pack, Willy Beamish, Sonic CD, Dracula, Jurassic Park, Rebel Assault, NHL '94, Ecco, MK, Dragon's Lair, hell, I even love Sewer Shark. And much like the beat, my list could go on.

I still listen to music off the thing.

Btw, one thing that has always rustled me a bit is how Sega CD is listed as its own console. It is a bloody add-on! Just because the covers say Sega CD instead of Genesis doesn't mean they're not Genesis games dang nab it.

I've always included CD and 32's library as part of the Genesis'.
