So since they can't pick up sales by having free multiplayer then it only makes sense for Sony to start charging; that's a cash cow.
In all honesty the only reason I originally bought the PS3 over the Xbox was because I didn't have to pay for online. There's many more people that did exactly that. I wouldn't say i'm happy about them charging for online but that's just capitalism. They know for a lot of gamers atm it's PS4 or bust, so they'll be willing to pay up. Plus with all the discounts, free games and the online back up (which saved my ass a few times), its really is worth it.
As long as it's still free on the PS3, I could care less. If gamers are ready and willing to throw away their money on a service that used to be free, then by all means, toss away. I'm actually surprised there isn't more fan backlash like there was towards all those crappy features the Xbox One originally had - if there was, maybe Sony would reverse their decision.

They should do free online multiplayer and a "plus" version like it is now. The plus should have stuff like dedicated servers, free stuff, and free online storage. Added value. Or they should lower the online prices for something like $10 a year.

I'll gladly pay $60 for online for a whole generation's lifetime, but $60 a year is kind of meh.

How does the free games system work on ps3 plus service, is it free to play that month only or is it download and keep for yourself?

It is yours to play as long as your sub is active.

i.e like Netflix once your sub lapses you can't access the free games so it is technically not really free but more of a rental IMO.

It's miles ahead of Xbox's online program though.

YMMV and that is purely subjective One person's online experience is not the same as another one.

That's based on numbers and features not opinions. Being able to play new triple A games every month, getting discounts in the PS store, and the online backup feature make the subscription pay for itself.

And that's great for "you" what about me I own a PS3 and don't want to pay for PS+ and don't care for the free IMO "rental" games and even the discounts. So am I wrong for not liking PS+. Nope and neither are you we are both right.

"That's based on numbers and features not opinions." Now that you let the cat out the bag in your stance between the two services show this "proof" based on "Numbers" as you have stated not an opinion but a factual statement. Remember I'm stating an opinion with only anecdotal evidence and rightfully so my statement should only be an "opinion" you on the other hand are making your "opinion" "fact" by using the statement you used above.

The burden of Proof lies on you to show not only raw data but also longitudinal data over a span of 5 years on both respective online platforms on the number of Sold "digital" content via PS+ and Xbox Live be it Indie, Full Retail, Movies, Music, repeat Subscribers. Good Luck buddy. And what turned out as a simple non bias response to your opinion turned out to be one of sabre rattling and dare I say PS fanboyism.

But that is your prerogative.

All i'm saying is if you put XBL and PS plus head to head, PS wins because it provides more features. Wither you call it rental or not, you get more bang for your buck with PS plus. By facts I mean more features and by numbers i mean being able to play free or "rental" games as well as ''rental'' discounts. I'm no fanboy by any means. If XBL gave more bang for your buck I'd be more than happy to say so. No need to get hostile, dude. And you should learn to use a period to separate sentences.

How am I being hostile when I stated an opinion and you are trying to state your opinion as fact. Is that being hostile all I'm doing is pointing out that opinions are not facts but you continue to state your opinion as fact? Otherwise one persons online experience is not the same as another person's experience and you can't make other people fall in line with what you think is better the world doesn't work that way.

Everybody likes different things I like Xbox live and not PS+ and you clearly like PS+ more than Xbox live and I have no beef with you on what you like but for some reason you got beef with me because I mentioned that PS+ games are "rentals" which they are but that doesn't bother me one bit and have no qualms about it.

All I see from your response is this quote "All i'm saying is if you put XBL and PS plus head to head, PS wins because it provides more features." So once again I have to ask is your opinion a fact? How so? Without real world data (which I ask of you to provide previously) making statements like the one above is only an opinion not a fact. And no amount of using "I", "think", "feel". "they". and "other People" will make an opinion true.

And one other thing is that I don't post on the PS4 thread spouting that Xbox one or xbox live is better than the PS4 and PS+ online. I have respect to keep my opinions to myself and not start some fanboy war.

But then again I apologize if you think my stance is being hostile I don't take kindly to people who try to make opinions fact just because they said so.
