Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It premiers in a little over an hour from now, so here's a thread where we can discuss it. I'm very excited. It's cool to see the Avengers movie universe expanded, and I'm happy to get another Joss Whedon show on TV.

Just sounds like a Marvel knock off of The Middleman!

S.H.I.E.L.D first appeared in the mid '60s....SamuraiMegas wrote:Just sounds like a Marvel knock off of The Middleman!
Anyway, the show was interesting. Super comic cheesy, this may play out to be a good thing or really annoying after a bit.

the moment I heard this show was a thing, I thought to myself "well, Gamerforlife will one day create a thread for it".

The way they are handling it sounds like the Middleman. I knew about the old SHEILD series, but I have never seen it. The ads I have seen for the new one sound like the Middleman.KDub wrote:S.H.I.E.L.D first appeared in the mid '60s....SamuraiMegas wrote:Just sounds like a Marvel knock off of The Middleman!

Yeah, I go nuts for anything Joss related. I'm not even that huge a Marvel fan, so much of my interest is because it's a Joss Whedon project.
I enjoyed it. I agree with KDub that it has some comic book cheesiness, but the Avengers movie was kind of like that so they have to stick to that feel. Great thing about Joss though is that his stuff often is very self aware. I wouldn't be surprised to see the show poke fun as the super hero genre in fun ways as the show goes on. Joss is good at turning tropes on their head too.

I thought this show was alright, nothing special, not bad, not good. Good amount of hotties.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
About what I expected. The whole "They're giants waiting to squish us" speech at the end felt like a pretty forced way to show how the avengers are affecting the feelings of the lowly humans. Mostly a lot of super quippy whedon style dialogue which I'm frankly not a huge fan of, but when it works it works, like when Coulson steps out of the shadows and delivers the perfect line. And it ended with a hover-car. How can you hate something that ends with a hover car?

Above average for the network, but the bar is set low to begin with.
Thank God for Coulson, as the supporting cast is pretty weak.
