Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
The weather up here is in the mid/low 40's, which is pretty standard for this time of year in Houghton. We generally see snow in early October, but it doesn't stick until November or so. Last winter lasted a ridiculously long time, even by our standards. How bad was it? We were still getting hit by blizzards in May, a week after summer break started.
But, anyway...
Smile: I had a great time yesterday with my friends! We all got together last night and played Team Fortress 2 together. Note to self: Low-gravity, all crits, 10x servers are GREAT for parties.
Frown: Schoolwork is brutal this semester. I don't have a big credit load, but they're all tough, except for Astronomical Physics. In particular, Differential Equations is destroying me.

My heart started thumping when I read the words "differential equations" for the first time in just over a decade...<shudder>...My education in mathematics - and my dreams of being a Nobel Prize-winning economist - stopped at about that point...and I am happier for it!lisalover1 wrote:In particular, Differential Equations is destroying me.
Good luck to you , lisalover1!

It's funny, in high school math was my worst subject and I had no interest in it. Since I've gone back to school it has quickly become my favorite and best subject and I'm planning on minoring in it.

Same here. I was "bad" at math as a kid, pretty decent at it as an adult.brunoafh wrote:It's funny, in high school math was my worst subject and I had no interest in it. Since I've gone back to school it has quickly become my favorite and best subject and I'm planning on minoring in it.
Turns out I had some terrible teachers throughout middle school/high school.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I think my grade school was behind compared to other schools. When we moved across towns (which had better schools) and I went into 7th grade, wow I sucked so bad that year. Bad enough I was put into summer school, but that 4 hours of math a day settled it and from there it was a cakewalk. Though I guess it's funny I took the applied courses at times, but for my senior year (when I didn't need math credits I think), I was put in the advanced trig course.
I have since then dropped college algebra a few times over the years in college. I blame the awful teachers I kept getting stuck with though. One lady was Asian and I couldn't understand a damn thing she said, there was no way that was happening.

I've been immobilized the past few days (and still am) due to a pulled/strained/straight up busted lower back. Can't sit, can't sleep, but I can crawl.
High Ho Hydrocodone away!

Tonight, I went out and had a great time with an amazing lady, and god damn, I haven't felt this good this whole stupid fracking year (well, since February anyway, but close enough).
I have a big stupid grin on my face that won't quit. I'm seeing her again on Saturday and it feels like its years away.
