It's been said but a Super Mario RPG sequal truely would've been great.

I'm guessing you mean the more epic tone and Geno and Mallow as playable characters?

Cause really from a gameplay perspective, the Mario and Luigi series is the continuition of Super Mario RPG. I think some of the same people work on it too.

Yeah with Mallow and Gerno. I wish they'd atleast show up in SOME game. Maybe the new Super Smash Bros? Something in my mind makes me doubt it though.

What about SNES games that should have had a prequel?

Eh?

Awesome thread.

The 3 Nintendo titles that have already been named DEFINETLY deserved sequels. Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and A Link to the Past. I mean they're 3 of the best games EVER made. And while the fan-hacks aren't bad, they aren't nearly as good as the originals, either.

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse deserved a proper sequel, as well. One of the, if not THE best 2D beat-em up I've ever played. The characters, enemies, and settings were very faithful to the comics. The controls were just spot on, with a Street Fighter-esqe move set for your mutant powers and special attacks. Great Capcom polish in the graphics and sound, too. The only problem with the game is that it's far too short. So a sequel would have really benefited this game.

And I can't believe nobody mentioned Chrono Trigger. One of the coolest RPGs ever. A sequel that explored the time-travel mechanics deeper, would have been so cool.

I had never heard of it before. But being that it's in Japanese and it's an RPG, it's gonna be pretty much unplayable for me.

It's something of a side-story to Chrono Trigger.

It was more of a text adventure than an RPG.

And it was a Satellaview game too, meaning that there's no physical Super Famicom cart (unless you count a 8M Memory Pak with the game saved on it - these are extremely expensive today).

The good news is that there's a fan translation as well as repro carts.
