From what the people in the comments are saying the way they think this will work is that you put the PS3 disk in your PS4 for authentication. Gaikai will then stream the game to your PS4 for you to play. The reason the users think this is how it will work is because according to the Playstation Blog, the PS3 ~ PS4 upgrade for $10 deal they have going on requires the original PS3 disk to be in the disk tray in order to access the digital PS4 game.
This is a pretty sound theory and I hope it works out this way. That way we won't have anything to repurchase, we can continue to collect the physical media and use it on our new hardware, and this is supposed to eventually work for all generations of PS hardware (PS1, PS2, & PS3). Also, those will all stream to the Vita and Vita TV. So, I'm pretty stoked.

What about those of us with digital copies of PS3 games? If I could still play those on my PS4 via streaming that'd be excellent.

What would be nice is if logging your PSN account on your PS4, they could see that you paid for a digital version and allow you access via Gaikai.

I agree. And that probably will be the case. Because screwing over people that bought digital in the first place really wouldn't make sense. But you never know, haha. Next year we'll find out!
