Last Sunday morning, I decided to tackle Starfox again on a whim. I'd never gotten past the second level before, but this time I got much farther, almost to the last level. Needless to say, I was very impressed with myself and with the game. Having never gotten very far, I hadn't gotten a chance to play some of the really cool levels, or boss battles, most notably destroying the ship's reactor core. I'll definitely have to revisit it again soon and see if I can finally defeat Andross once and for all.

Mystic Ark is amazing. Anyone who enjoyed The 7th Saga needs to give it a shot. Yeah, it's Japan-only, but there is a translated ROM and it's pretty easy to find a repro cart if you wanna go that route. It's similar to its predecessor though the storyline is much more fleshed out.

I'm also playing Kouryu Densetsu Villgust. Started a new file but I'm also messing around with the previous owner's save file as well. The stats in this game are hilarious. My characters have 45,000 HP and do something like 9,000-11,000 HP of damage per attack. Never seen anything like it.

(I am allowed to talk about Super Famicom games here, right?)

Yeah, go ahead, Bone.

And if you're busy playing Super Famicom games, have you tried Bahamut Lagoon? That game is amazing.

Don't own it, but I have beaten an emulated version and also love it. That game is incredible.

Have you tried the translated ROM for Energy Breaker yet? I was wondering if that game was any good.

Finished Super Star Wars once again, and am looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. The game kind of "fits" the snes if that makes sense. I'm also thinking about finally beating DOOM. I dig the port for some odd reason.

If you haven't yet, you should check out the Wolfenstein 3D port for the SNES. It has some interesting changes from the PC version. And then there's that reskin that's so awesome...

I have played a bit on an emulator. Don't think I've ever actually tried the translated ROM though, just the Japanese original.

But yeah, it's a solid strategy RPG. Great isometric graphics too.

I was thinking the other day, we really got screwed out of some great strategy RPGs in the West. Ogre Battle was localized but that's about it. No Bahamut Lagoon, no Fire Emblem(s), no Dragon Knight 4, no Der Langrisser, no Front Mission, no Tactics Ogre, no Lord Monarch, no FEDA.... We got shafted hard.

At least the Genesis had Shining Force I/II and Langrisser......

I haven't played mine a great deal, but I like it as well though being one of the lesser known SNES shmups.

The cartridge is red. Who doesn't love non-standard cartridge colors? That's about the only thing I like about it.

I guess the music is good too. Maybe not better than the PC, but different.

I can't stand to play it for for very long though it always gives me a headache.

Star Fox seemed intimidating to me when I was younger. When I finally actually sat down with the intention of beating it though it wasn't as difficult as I used to think it was.
