Hmmmmm....It is a really fun game, and you will certainly get $5 of enjoyment out of it. That said, Gamestop sells the game for $0.50...but finding the sleeve is quite difficult. (They usually get trashed.) There was no full plastic case release for that game in North America, but I had a custom cover printed for my copy so that it "fits" into my collection a bit better.BurningDoom wrote:I got Link's Crossbow Training for Wii complete in it's original cardboard case (was there a full plastic case release?) with the manual and Club Nintendo code for $5. No Crossbow accessory.
...good deal or no?

Re: Games Acquired 2013
Here is my mid-month update. Most of my recent shopping had been at Gamestop - which has had some fantastic sales - so there is nothing too exciting here.
I did <finally> pick up a PS3, however; so, my $5 spending cap on PS3 games has popped off. (I ended up purchasing a 320GB slim for $140.) The first game I picked up for more than $5 was 3D Dot Game Heroes since I have heard that at least one member of this forum is a fan of that game...

I also have two CD books full of PC games and two "plug-and-play" systems. At some point, I need to photgraph my collection, and I really need to input my collection into some sort of collection tracking application.
I would have to estimate - and these numbers may be way off - but I probably have:8bit wrote:prfsnl_gmr, wow man 500+ games added in less than 9 months! What is your total collection count up to?

It has been a huge year for my collection. I really pushed my numbers up and my average cost down by starting an Atari 2600 collection in January. Many of the common games on that system can be found for $1 or less; so, it was very easy to add a lot of games for very little money. Also, the pawn shops in Charlotte, North Carolina liquidated their GC, PS2, and Xbox games this year, and I was able to grab a lot of games from them for very little money. Finally, I think that I am just in a good location to buy games. (I very, very rarely buy games on line.) Within 25 miles of my home there are: (1) 20+ pawn shops; (2) 10+ thrift stores - one of which specializes in computer equipment and video games; (3) 10+ Gamestops; and (4) 1 dedicated retro-gaming store. If I go just a bit further afield, there are six more dedicated retro-gaming stores, five flea markets, and even more pawn shops. In sum, Charlotte, North Carolina is a just a great place to hunt video games (it combines "large city" selection with "small town" prices) and with Gamestop and pawn shop sales, this has been a great year to buy games for older systems.Menegrothx wrote:How the hell can you find so many games for so cheap?

Within 25 mile radius
2 gaming stores (one could argue it's two locations of the same store - they constantly swap stuff back and forth)
1 record store that also sells games
2 thrift stores
maybe 3-5 pawn shops
2 GameStops
0 flea markets
I frequently buy games online.

*NEW* Silent Hill 2 (PC)

It's been a long search for this one, but it ended just in time for next month's Together Retro. I was ready to play just the other game, honestly. The PC port isn't terribly rare, but it's on the border of that and uncommon, and completed auction prices on eBay agree ($50 and up). I got this one complete for a little more than half of that, box is a bit beat up on the top and bottom flaps, but everything's here, and I'm ready to go.
