The guy that was let go is a hundred times better than me, and has been trained in multiple fields. I'm sure the only reason they didn't let me go is because my one year contract. But seriously, that really sucks. Have you tried looking around to see if you can maybe catch a different job in the area just in case? I mean that's assuming you even want to stick around in Texas.
The closest hosting company is in San Antonio, which I'm not willing to move to. Other than that, there are some software companies and datacenters around here. I've heard of a few places other Admins are ending up after being let go. I'm not sure if I'm up for another risk like this though.
