This is why we should play 1941. The PCB is really rare. Nobody talks about it because nobody has played it. It's really a great game with a unique wall spin mechanic. I think it's better than XX, 42, 43. I like it a lot better than Varth too. If more people played it, then it would have a better reputation. Chicken and the egg situation.ExedExes wrote:Ok, well I wasn't really talking from a collector's standpoint. 1941 is plenty tough though. I can get farther in 1942, 1943, and 1943 Kai than I could in '41. Yes, 1944 was during that "put a vertical into a horizontal" screen thing that Capcom also did with Giga Wing 1/2 and Mars Matrix, and the stages themselves can be pretty sparse and slow moving, but the boss battles were pretty special, some of the meanest vehicles this side of 19XX. All of them are memorable in their own way.Tyranix95 wrote:More people own and play GHOULS than 41. Ands as cool a game as 41 looks and sounds, it's still meh compared to 43, KAI, and XX. If it weren't for it's rarity, people wouldn't noticed it. Only games that it rocks are 42 and 44. And 44 plays like a Verti smashed into a Hori, with a boss rush kinda feel. And 42, well, Let's just say that 42 is a Classic.
Only people I've met with a hard on for 41 and 44 are hare core collectors who get all excited over rare pcbs (like 41) and hard core Raizing fans who want to get 'em all (like 44). Even then, 41 and 44 are low gets on their list compared to other more sought after games on the Top Shmup lists.

1941 appeared on various Capcom collections, so I think it was available on PS2, Xbox and PSP. I have it on the Capcom Classics Remixed on the PSP.
I've never been a huge fan of 1942 or 1943. My favourite of the series would be 19XX: The War Against Destiny, with 1941: Counter Attack in 2nd.

The spin mechanic is odd. You have to hit the walls in order to activate it. And when you shoot while hitting the walls, your shots go in all directions. Difficult to aim. Not being able to aim your shot seems more like a hindrance that a help. The charge shot is way more useful in the game. What really gets annoying in 41 is all the enemies that come at you from behind.

Zero Gunner 2 is awesome; but is it easily emulated? I know that DC copies aren't exactly on the cheap side.Fragems wrote:90-95: Eco Fighters

I don't know about emulation but there's likely a self-booting DC file floating around on the internet.foxhound1022 wrote:Zero Gunner 2 is awesome; but is it easily emulated? I know that DC copies aren't exactly on the cheap side.

Zero Gunner 2 is great - sorta like Under Defeat meets Strikers, really nice game that i'd love to give more time. That said - no point in "lobbying" per se since it'll be random draw of submitted titles...and that said, the more people who submit it, the more chances it has...
