Saturn Sticks 'n such

Post by fingersmaloy »

Anyone know where I can find a complete list of games compatible with the Saturn twinsticks and Saturn Mission Stick? It looks like the Mission Stick might just work with any game compatible with the 3D controller, but I haven't confirmed that.

The twinsticks work with Gungriffon 2 and the Gundam Side Story games, which was surprising because they didn't even advertise that. Are there other compatible games out there?

Also, just a word about Saturn peripherals...I often see people talking about how expensive they can be, like some guy was trying to sell his twinsticks for 125 dollars or something like that. But if you're looking for a Saturn peripheral and the prices are astronomical like that, I say keep looking. Why? Because here in Japan, they're dirt cheap. I found the arcade racing wheel here for 50 yen (around 50 cents). That's less than the price of a call from a payphone. The Saturn modem was 90 yen including all needed software AND Virtua Fighter Online or whatever it was called. The twinsticks were 1000 yen and came with Virtual On plus all three Gundam Side Story games. The Mission Stick was 2500 but came with Space Harrier.

Certainly it's bound to cost a little more to import stuff, but not THAT much more. Somebody's got to be selling for a reasonable price.

Sounds like you could make some good money in arbitrage.

Well, this weekend I did myself one better. Found yet another Mission Stick for 210 yen. For those who don't know, you can connect two mission sticks and turn them into a double mission stick. Why? Well, for one thing, it lets you control Panzer Dragoon Zwei like a semi-modern shooter, where one stick moves and the other stick aims. I've yet to discover if there's anything else you can do with it, but it's a pretty cool novelty.

Also, I found one of these beasts: . If you watch the video, note that this guy bought his for 14,000 yen, roughly 140 dollars. The one I found was going for around 510. All depends on where you shop.

If you're a Saturn player and you ever find yourself in Japan, you gotta find a Hard-Off store. They don't know the value of these things, and they haul all Saturn-related ware into the "Junk" section from the get-go. Heresy, yeah, but it sure works out in our favor.
