What are some of your "Dream Games"?

Post by Frag Mortuus »

I was just browsing some videos on Game Trailers and I came across a video discussing the Sega Pluto, then a list of the "6 games that could turn the Wii U around" and so on. Which got me thinking about some of the things I would love to see in games I love or hardware I would love to see. So here is some things off the top of my head:

1) A new 2D Metroid that is a true sequel to Super Metroid in the vane of Donkey Kong Country Returns, 2.5D Graphics and all. Just make it HUGE like about 4 times the size of Super Metroid.

2) A new Zelda. Maybe a more realistic feel to it. Add more RPG elements to it without making it a true RPG. Keep the health and currency system. But maybe add multiple sets of weapons and armor. A larger world with multiple towns. Basically make the game world seem like a part of a larger persistent world.

3) An Elderscrolls game that starts with one well developed province of Tamriel and ads a new province with a new expansion until you have the entire continent in one game. Granted this would take a huge amount of HDD space and a lot of work, but how amazing would that be?

4) Similar to #1, a new 2.5D Castlevania just like Symphony of the Night. Just bigger and better. Make it a console game instead of a handheld.

5) Half Life 3

6) Dreamcast 2

7) A direct sequel to Super Mario World. Same formula. Same graphics as New Super Mario Bros U. Go back to having two exits one red levels with branching paths and secrets. Bring back the secret card games and coin ships of SMB3. Add all the suits in the entire Mario universe and make the game big enough that they all have room to breath and are all useful at some point.

8 ) A Next Gen, 3D re-imagining of Final Fantasy VI with an "After Years" addendum a la FFIV.

9) A True sequel so the Mana series. Keep the same formula as 1,2,3. Forget Legend of Mana, Children of Mana and that one on the PS2 and pick up where 3 left off. Use a graphics style similar to the Ys series just in HD.

10) A True return of Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

11) Dark Cloud 3.

What do you all want to see?

I'll just post sequels because I dont wanna get too carried away fantasizing about theoretical dream games here :P
System Shock 3
Klonoa 3
Thief 4, a proper game (the Thief 4 we're about to get soon looks very disappointing)
A new Silent Hill game made by Team Silent
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2
A singleplayer Warhammer RPG
Ape Escape 2 (I know there are sequels to the game but they look bad)
A new Oddworld game in the style of Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus
A new Resident Evil game in the style of 1-3
Crash Bandicoot 4
Crash Team Racing 2 (a proper sequel)
A proper continuation to the Ultima Series (Ultima VIII-2 in a way)
Wizardry 9
Sam and Max and Monkey Island sequels with hand drawn 2D art
A day of the tentacle sequel, or an adventure game with similiar style and premise
Half Life 3
An isometric, proper sequel to Fallout (Fallout 3)
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura 2. I want to see a game with as unique and great game world and in depth RPG elements, but with better combat system etc. Any kind of RPG with an unusual setting like that would do.
More Metal Slug style run n guns: Beautiful hand drawn 2D artwork and co-op.
More immersive sim FPS and RPG games
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

These two please. :( Silent Hill especially has been sad to watch, it's lost so much of the mystique and mood it had in the first few games. The various western teams have clearly tried to recapture that tone (perhaps trying a bit too hard at times) but it always falls short of the mark.

I'd be willing to bet that we'll see a nice, HD, hand drawn, 2D Metal Slug style game sooner or later. Surely an indie team or something is working on something like that.

With Squeenix's affinity for transgender elves I'm not sure I want CT to be marred by the knobs who work for the company

You reminded me that I need to pick up this before the WiiWare service disappears...

1. An HD remake of the Super Nintendo version of The Adventures of Batman and Robin
2. Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks 2
3. A modern Rock n' Roll Racing game
4. Mega Man X9
5. Beyond Good and Evil 2 - Stop making Rayman games and DO this already!
6. A game featuring other Batman characters like a Batgirl game
7. A new Buffy 2d, beat 'em up based on the never released animated series
8. Lollipop Chainsaw 2 - Suda mentioned it as a possibility I believe
9. Maverick Hunter X 2 and 3
10. An interesting 2D Resident Evil digital download game with 2d survival horror gameplay
11. Dino Crisis 4
12. Starfox 3 - Or 2 if we don't count Starfox 64 as a sequel, maybe a prequel with Fox's dad
13. A dark new WiiU Zelda game with an older Link, a more modern, action heavy combat system, an engrossing story, and voice acting - Breathe some life into this stale franchise that's still stuck in the 80s. Time for this series to grow up already. I would love for Zelda to be modernized and become Nintendo's flagship, first party franchise
14. A Battletoads game by Wayforward
