Steam to beta Family Sharing

Post by MrPopo »

Remember the Xbox One family sharing plan that got axed with the rest of the "we're going to be Steam-like" digital plans? Well now Steam is making family sharing available.

Hmm...I'm wary. We'll see how it works out.

Sadly it is library only, not individual titles. And if you are using a friends library they cannot play online*. BUT it is awesome.

*So if I authorize Popo, and he starts playing one of the games I own. I cant hop on steam or else he will be kicked out of the game (well be told to stop playing or to buy it). It is unknown, though very likely, that you will be able to play steam games offline while someone else is playing them.

I'm a little wary too. I'm not sure I'd want to give anyone access to my whole library.

Though it is def nice for the literal "family" thing. Meaning, there are surely some Steam games that my wife would enjoy. But she's not going to bother downloading them on her laptop after I already paid for them. So the ability to share those within our household is nice.

This seems kinda cool. Now if only there were someone else in my family who used Steam.
