Do you think I am cheap

Post by RCBH928 »

Honestly, I dont like to pay full price on games. $60 is just too much. A game is worth that amount only if you are going to play the hell out of it, like halo2 for example. Or maybe for someone who actually ENJOYS playing the same game for 60-70 hours.

To be honest I dont even like to pay $20 for used games. The game might be worth it, but there are simply too many good games out there. Plus you never know a game until you actually play it yourself, then you can decide.

Back to full price, why pay full price for a new game when you can buy like 3 GREAT games that are couple of years older. For example, why pay full price on a game like say cod4, when you can buy cod2, gta san andreas, and ninja gaiden, for almost same price?!
Same amount, just as good or greater games.

Where I am I cant resell my games, so if I pay $40, $40 is gone. I cant sell it again for $20 to put it back into another game. Plus it sad to see all the games stacked collecting dust, when i know some one else might enjoy them and pay something for them.

I agree, for newer systems I usually keep my library to only a few games most likely a NHL games and then one or 2 other games.
For older games I rarely spend a large amount unless there's a bunch of games for the price..

When I was younger I rented games a lot.

No, you're not cheap. I always wait a least two years until a gaming console has been out before buying it, and I prefer to buy games when they can be had for 50% of their brand new price tag.

does any one think that $60 is just too much for games?
i mean some games deserve more, but many more deserve a lot less
like mario galaxy sure deserve that amount maybe a bit more
but games like crackdown or "put any other fps here" simply doesnt
they dont give enough new experience or anything special

I guess the real value of the game is its price after 6 month of release. Games that were like big hits such as assassin creed and others maybe are selling for $20-30 used now. Thats more likely to be its REAL price.

Plus , some games are replayable, like mario kart and halo's ,while other games basically you really go through them once even if they are great like ninja gaiden and zelda. Even if you do stuff like higher difficulty , or explore more...some games are made just to go through once unless you are one big fan of the game.

I dunno, when I grew up games would cost $70-80 on release (and that was the SNES era, so adjust for inflation), which meant that I couldn't buy a lot of them. So for me, the $50-60 price tag on games nowadays doesn't seem that bad.

i know games cost a lot more back then, but let us not forget
back then multiplatforms were less, games were less, sequels were less, and games were more quality than just quantity like now.

i know shovelware did exist, but lets assume a great game called call of duty is out. thats it, next year there wont be 2, if it does, then i can swear by anything 3 wont see it on the same console.

For example, now we say "remember playing mario on the snes" we know which one. But do you think in the future you can say,"remember playing call of duty on 360" , and you wold be like "which one?" ...

I think back then games were high quality, different from each other, and simply worth it and less in numbers. Now games are just clones, except for some. Add to that , now the game library is huge. On Snes, you can only play snes cartridge, on saturn you can only play saturn games. Now, you have the whole videogames library in online stores, your system can at least play 1 earlier generation games, plus downloadable games like wiiware and others. Your $60 can do a lot more now than buy 1 game for your console

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Ditto. That and combing thrift stores for retro titles is how I get most of my games. There is a retro store near my work that I pick up alot of stuff at too, they have really good prices on sega stuff most of the time. I did pay 60 bucks for the Persona 3 original release (which I've never played)....and 30 for Odin Sphere. Other than that I haven't bought a new game for like 8 years.
