Descoware is what Dr.Huxtable used to cook with if I remember correctly. Grade A stuff for just about anything. Le creuset is pretty plush too.

Desoware is great stuff, and it was heartily endorsed by Julia Child. Le Creuset - which is also great - actually purchased Descoware in the 1960s and, if I recall correctly, still produces some pieces in Descoware's fantastic "flame orange" color.

What type of Kitchen-Aid do you own?

We have this this model in white. It is not Kitchenaid's biggest machine, but it is certainly big enough for our purposes. Moreover, the larger motor is absolutely necessary for the grinder attachment (which, in turn, is absolutely necessary for making mince).

EDIT: Reading back through that...I guess I am kind of a geek...Unless, of course, you mean "geek" in the sense that the term is used in the classic 1947 film noir Nightmare Alley. I am definitely not one of those.

I'm a Home Theater geek, PC geek, Gaming geek (obviously), Movie geek, and Music geek.

These are the things that I obsess over. I started the Home Theater geekery when I was going to invest in my first HDTV when the Xbox 360 came out. I spent months pouring over every aspect of TV's and AVR's. I quickly learned the elementary stuff like what the different resolutions meant, what the different ports were and what they were all suited for. Then on to the more advanced stuff like 3:2 Pull Down, 2:2 Cadence, and Deep Color Gamma. From then, I got really into the stuff and have started subscribing to Home Theater Magazine so that I can stuff up to date with the newest tech out and frequently visit various websites to discuss the latest news.

PC Geek just stems from my love of technology. I have gotten a degree in Computer Science and have since landed a job as a Network / Server administrator and am super happy.

The Gaming / Movie / Music geekery comes from what I found solace in as an adolescent when I was getting picked on, called a "geek", and getting humiliated during school. These things helped me to keep my sanity and keep me out of trouble. Without these things, I don't know where I would be right now.

I'm "geeky" about the following:

Pro Wrestling - Mostly a WWE guy though
Anything Joss Whedon related, especially if it has to do with Buffy or Angel
Sci Fi
comic books - With a huge emphasis on Batman and DC in general

I'm somewhat of a TV geek, in that I'll often check out a show just based on its reputation among TV buffs (like Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights and The Wire)or the past successes of its show runner.

My geekiness for gaming eclipses all of these things by far though. Gaming's been kind of an obsession my whole life. Hence my user name

Over the years that term has changed in meaning. Like Jinx said, for a long time geek was an insult. However over the past few years it has become a trend. So geeks went from being the butt of a joke, to accepted.

I'd argue that the stigma hasn't actually gone away, but that people have generally become more tolerant of individuals carrying said stigma. My coworkers will still think it's weird that I order Pokémon and Star Trek literature through the library network, but they're not going to beat me up for it. I hope.

And I'm honestly never sure if most people out there would label me a nerd or not. I generally don't feel "expert" enough in any of my interests to brag confidently about being a geek in them. Anybody else feel that way?

I did read Moby-Dick of my own volition, though.

I feel bad for all the Nerds and Geeks that had to go through the civil rights movement that lead to the freedom to openly declare yourself nerd or geek w/ out getting beat up. But in all seriousness I'm pretty happy you can be a apart of the nerd/geek culture and not have to put up with all the shit people gave you (not that I was around when this was partaking). I'm guessing this whole stigma ended in the very late 90's of very early 00's because I never heard or saw anyone get harassed/beat up for being nerdy/geeky for as long as I can remember (I started school in 01').
